Calzaghe has huge respect for Kessler, because A) he's a great fighter, and B) he's a damn nice guy who didn't need to talk shit about Joe before or after their fight. How can you not appreciate a fantastic fighter like Kessler, a total pro and a supremely good guy also?
Kessler would give Bernard Hopkins a hard night if they fought. Stop making Hopkins out to be the second coming of Ali or something man, he's a boring fighter nowadays who lost twice to Jermain Taylor not so long ago. Oddly enough, I'm still a fan of Bernard, but come on man, he isn't God.
One other thing -- Bernard saying "Kessler? Who the hell is Kessler?" is bullshit. I have seen interviews with Bernard since before the Kessler-Calzaghe fight where Bernard talked about Kessler. He knows exactly who he is, don't be fooled.
As I said, Hopkins is a moron.
Or he certainly acts that way!

This guy Kessler should be thanking calzaghe for the free promotion
i cant believe he just kissed kesslers ass so openly.
LMAO " you think you can beat kessler" you cant be serious b hop
will destroy kessler
I wouldn't go as far as calling him a moron. I admire him for pulling himself out of a bad lifestyle and doing something positive. Clearly, he's a sharp man in many ways, not the most gifted in others, but he is a likeable character most of the time.
Hopkins is one of those idiots from the Nation of Islam..
niccas are racist as hell.
Anyway, I think that whole cus you fought in Europe shit is stupid.
Hopkins fought in the U.S. all his life what difference does it make?
He should have just said cus you fought mostly nobodys and bums..
that would have been more on point.
........psychological warfare is a mutha******
I dunno, I think Hopkins has no chance at beating Joe unless he turns it into a VERY dirty matchup. Calzaghe has too much heart and determination to lose. I'm not saying B-hop doesn't, but I just don't expect the old man to go in there trading punches with a man that throws 1000s of punches. He said it himself that he wouldn't. So what else can he do? It's gonna be ugly, very ugly. It's gonna be B-hop ugly! :ugh: :ugh: :ugh:
Most fighters have that characteristic
Eubanks and Bika are NOTHING like Hopkins.
Kris wasn't saying they are alike, he was saying Joe overcame what they brought to the ring, including Bika's dirty fighting and headbutting which is something Hopkins is known for.

Determining what constitues racism is largely a personal thing which you've demonstrated. I too have friends, whereby we can call each other anything and it's funny, playing up to it, it's why racially controversial comments are often so common in comedy.
In different area's different usage of racial words are taken differently, there's so many factors. But with racism laws so strict in much of the civilised world, it doesn't take much to constitute racism. These are professional sports men, and saying I wouldn't lose to a white person in any other sport like Tennis for example, would stir lots of controversy, and like it or lump it, many, even official bodies, would determine it racist. It can't work both ways.
I think other opponents on Joes's CV that should in particular worry Bernard and demonstrate ability to overcome such tasks include Eubank and Bika. Eubank was an older, more known, wiser, legend, confident, cocky, great countering etc. Joe overcame that. Bika fought dirty, head butted cutting Joe, warred Joe trying everything. Didn't work, Joe overcame that.
Not saying it's the same but definitely some similar aspects of Bernard there, which Joe has prooved he can over come.

Most of the black people that I personally know make anti-White racist statements all the time.
But what is the big deal?
It is only words.
You'd have to be rather child-like, immature and emotionally lacking to get really upset over mere words.
I agree with RFKO, although I wouldn't put it in so many words. I don't think Calzaghe would have any problems with anyone on B-Hops rez including Roy and Winky. The only one I see B-Hop having problems with on Cal's rez is Kessler.
Should be the best Hopkins fight we've ever seen though, as I think Joe will make the fight. Hopefully we don't see the pop shot-grab-break-pop shot-head butt routine we usually see with Hopkins.
It has nothing to do with Eubank being old you moron. It has to do with Eubank losing his desire and failing to pull the trigger after the Watson tragedy and never being the same again. Wake the fuck up. I thought you where following boxing since the seventies? You must have been asleep at the wheel.
:bottle:
Get a grip.
One of THOSE idiots from the Nation of Islam? Doesn't mean they're all idiots as that statement inters.
All nicca's are racist? A bit generalistic.
I don't think Bernard is racist at all, doesn't mean you can say stuff like that though, it's dis respectful at best, racist at worst.
And yes, saying the europe stuff was dumb your right, woulda been far better off dissing the fighters. It's ironic to considering Joe wanted Bernard anywhere years ago, and Bernard said no. Even for this fight, Bernard wouldn't come to the UK, he said put some weight on and come to the US. Well there he is lol.

Yea I know, but it's really not on, and I think he's lost credibility over it, and for kicking off at Buncey about being cold.
I've watched the video back, and what shocks me is how many times he says it, white person, and even if he knew it was controversial, he seems to have no recognition it will offend people, and some will determine it racist.
I watched an interview with him trying to justify it, and it made him look worse. He said, you gotta understand we never saw white people in my area, blah blah.
It's not on and I think should have been made of an example of, it would in other scenario's, certainly here in the UK. If something like that was said here it'd be all over the media. We're probs over the top, but I'd rather that, then right it off as fight talk. Not an excuse for racial comments, rarely even heard in boxing.
Works both ways, if Joe woulda made a similar comment I think he would have gotten major shit for it, and from what I've heard Bernard hasn't overly.
It's a stupid comment. On the other hand, if it was said merely as a way to draw a bigger crowd for this fight, has it worked? Whether or not it was said to hype the fight, I don't agree with making race an issue.
