boxing is a tough sport, and it takes a tough individual to climb in that ring. naturally all boxers are tough, however there are some fighters who have their own unique, heart wrenching way of displaying their guts in more a graphic way. as a fan, who do you consider being tough as nails, wouldnt take no for an answer, kept coming forward and rolling with punishment, scoring hail marys, succeeding as an underdog
to me the names that come to mind are diego corrales, took on all comers, what he lacked in the chin department he always made up with his fists and his first fight with castillo speaks volumes of his true nature as a survivor and a fighter.
george foreman, coming back after 2 knockdowns to ko lyle. taking a beating for 9 rounds and over coming the adversity with a single right hand at 45 years old. and overall having the guts to climb into the ring at the age when fighters call it quits. an old man taking a beating from young guys.
harry greb who fought the last part of his career blind in one eye. a middleweight fighting heavyweights
joe frazier obviously.
who's your choice? past or present, doesnt matter whether championship caliber or just a club fighter. toss in a name
he never fought for a world championship. he used to fight on tuesday night fights alot on usa. he was the one who got me into boxing at a very young age. he was a welterwight. he fought adrian stone , i dont know if you remember him or not? he beat stone, but never had the chance to fight for a title cause of being murdered
He knocked out Stone silly.
When i heard Mosley was going to fight Stone i knew from Huges KO of Stone that Mosley would ko Stone too and he did. Nothing to take away from Stone he was at the time a top contender but Huges was the first to KO Stone. And yeah, he was tough, he was on his way to challenge Felix Trinidad if i remember correctly. Before there was Gatti or Ward there was Huges, he's forgetten a bit cause he died too early.

the man in my avatar was a hell of a tough sob. sadly though he was murdered about 10 years ago. got into a lifestyle of drugs and it caught up with him. The late great jesse james hughes
never heard of him  :( what kind of fighter was he?

thanks will look it up
bat the man, i like you now, ur a cool cat :fing02: 5 star rating for you sir
baldomir is tough no question especially with his ability, which he had none. just a straigh up fighter, no cute moves, no real style just going forward and landing his heat
BUT
i saw something i didnt like. against mayweather and forrest he would get frustrated and loose his cool. on numerous occasions. he didnt know how to deal with pressure well instead of taking it in. against judah and gatti he kept his composure, because things were going his way and he wasnt in the danger zone or put into position where he had to let himself out. but i feel like his fights after his underdog victories have exposed him, not as a fraud but to the extent that made you wonder. in the mayweather fight there were moments when he wanted to quit
carlos is a tough fighter but not in the class of toughness of a chico coralles, frazier and the rest of em.
didnt know we were also jugding mental toughness, i was just merly pointing out that this guy took huge huge shots without blinking
carlos baldomir is one tough modern SOB, what a chin my god, he really did get upset at himself when hit with a big punch, veron foresst hurt mosely when they fought if i remember correctly, baldy didnt even flinch when hit with foresst best shots baldomir is tough no question especially with his ability, which he had none. just a straigh up fighter, no cute moves, no real style just going forward and landing his heat

lol yeah that's why i said it. enter harry greb
the man could have written an encyclopedia on dirty fighting. he'd make guys like hopkins and golota look like children on playground. not sure about nelson, i read about him but never seen any films of him (not sure if they exist) but i trust your word.
walker, greb, nelson were old school, anything went with these guys.

I don't know about that. I kinda doubt he had any friends. He was one of the dirtiest fighters that ever lived.

lol so he was good friends with micky walker and harry greb

And tougher than the 'fight club' actor. I bet Pitt never did participate in a headbutting contest. Bat did. He won when hes opponents skull cracked open. lol so he was good friends with micky walker and harry greb
For me it was Diego Corrales. He didn't have the best chin ever but having a good chin doesn't make you tough, just tough to knockout. Diego had guts and balls, if he went down he always attempted to get back on his feet.
If an opponent went had him hurt and went in for the kill it was dangerous because Diego's heart and toughness dictated that even hurt he would swing to hurt his opponent and not go into survial mode.
His tombstone says it best "One More Round" which was said by him to a doctor when he had a 2inch hole in his face and was swallowing blood. yes, definetly, when he was cornered into a tough position, he didnt go on the defensive or try to hide, he walked straight into the face of danger to gamble with his chances. that's what toughness is, not giving in, and pushing forward against the weight of adversity
LMFAO P4P #1 sexiest beast (no homo), this guy would send Brad Pitt into retirement :lol1:
