Jones beats hopkins the same 8 rounds to 4. Even at this stage Jones is better than Hopkins, he always was. Thats why he avoided the rematch for the last decade.
Both of them have changed a lot since their last fight, mostly Hopkins, but this would be interesting, but expect Jones going after Calzaghe if he wins more then Hopkins, but Jones is still hungry for a fight and he'll fight anyone but I think he's just waiting for Hopkins-Calzaghe to make his decision
lets not get carried away here...roy has adjusted and still has quick pop in his punches, he pot shots more wisely...any of his punches can make those boxers neck snap back with ease...
.............cosign that
Right now I'd favour Jones by close decision. I still think his losses to Tarver and Johnson reflected his struggles to re-adjust to the light heavy limit after being up at heavy, no chin, no legs, no stamina.
Its taken a while, but he looked good against Trinidad, who certainly was not shot. Come to think of it Roy looked damn fast for a guy his age, he looked more impressive than Hopkins looked against Winky Wright! I dont think Roy has the beating of Joe Calzaghe but he may look good in spurts!
I think roy is scared because bernard offered him the fight on the basis of
a 50-50 split purse when b-hop was middleweight champ but instead he disrespected bernard (which he doesnt take to kindly) and said he wanted
60-40, granted roy jones was pound for pound but hopkins was already in
his like 9th or 10th year as undisputed middleweight champ and hadnt loss
since he fought roy in 1993 he deserved the respect.
Roy deliberatley priced him self out.
You're all wrong about this. Roy was, a minimum of, twice the draw Hopkins was at that time, had twice the record when you consider the level of opposition, and of course has a 1-0 record against Bernard. 60-40 was generous.
You can criticize Roy for not making some big fights happen that should have (Michalczewski, in particular) but not this one.
Hopkins has to beat Joe C or the fight won't happen. I got a feeling a disputed decision in Hopkins-Calzaghe will result in a rematch. If that don't happen and B-Hop wins I think he'll take on Jones and win a close decision.
Hopkins, either by knockout or by simply out working Jones. Jones has enough to get past the fighters that are his age and is as past their prime as he is and Hopkins has more left in the tank. I personally think that Bernard would stop him.
Hopkins is not Hanshaw, Prince adjuamu or Trinidad, who was shot and hadn't fought in 3 years. Hopkins is currently a pound for pound quality fighter, has good stamina and still a brilliant crafty ring Technition. Jones can get away with laying on the ropes and only fighting in spurts against Trinidad and Hanshaw but Bernard wouldn't allow that to happen, he would stay on Roy. He would take advantage of Roy's slowed reflexes, foot speed and stamina.
Hopkins by late stoppage.
I believe if Hopkins beats Calzaghe, which I think he probably will, then he will absolutely go after a Roy Jones rematch. It's a win-win in the two biggest categories Bernard cares about, money and legacy, and is extremely low-risk. It will be a slightly boring chess match, much like the first fight. Hopkins won't go after Jones hard enough to KO him, and vice-versa, and both know it. And it'll sell big, and gives either the chance to end their career with a huge name and huge win.
Count on this fight happening. And I'd count on being surprised by how good Roy does against him also. Roy'll be the underdog if they fight (because if they do, it'll be because Bernard just beat Joe), but I kind of still might like Roy in this fight, call me crazy. We'll see...

Also Roys god given superhuman talent is not there any more hopkins
has never had an intangible to speak of other than his brain power which
comes more into play when your older seeing that your brain is probably
the absolute last thing that can go. And Roys not getting any younger
and hes no slouch when it comes to thinking but hes no hopkins
Hopkins smarts> Roys smarts

B-Hop by split decision. I think Roy doesn't like to get hit at this stage and Bernard can bring it to him and Roy can't box and move like he used to IMO. Prime Roy beats Bernard most of the time though.
Roy doesnt have the legs and reflexes to beat Hop at this stage! Roy looked like shit until he fought an out of shape inactive Tito Trinidad! Hop has fought the better opponents since they last fought, and Roy has been brutally KO'ed by 2 guys Hop smashed! So yall go ahead and jump back on the myth of Roy Jones being the Roy of old! Roy goes to the ropes these days and call it defense, thats where he gets knocked out, lookin for the ropes!! Hop destroys this version of Roy Jones! As a matter of fact, Calz, JT, Pavlik, Dawson, and even Miranda would smash Roy! Itz a rap for Roy! Game Over!!!

There's a small chance of this happening because Jones has said he doesn't want to deal with Hopkins anymore. But if they do fight, I still think Jones would win.
B-Hop learned alot after his loss to Roy Jones, he's alot smarter than Roy I think. All Roy had was the god given talent and knew how to use them quite well in his prime. Roy of present has now finally adapted, accepted and realized that he's getting older and a few steps behind so he makes adjustments in his game. I think Bernard will beat Jones this time around because he knew when and how to adjust in his point of his career, with that said he's smarter than Roy...
but then again Roy could just be 1 of those fighters where he'll just have Bernard's number...
