A Cotto/Hatton fight would possibly get Cotto to that next level that Floyd says he needs to get to, to be more of a profitable opponent so why don't these two meet at some sort of catchweight and the winner could face the DLH/PBF winner with noone being able to complain!!!! DLH will gets his rematch and Cotto will get his chance to "prove" he is worthy or Hatton can disprove this and get his rematch in '09?
1. Cotto could never make 140.
2. Hatton has no business fighting at 147.
3. Cotto would seriously hurt Hatton at 147
4. Hatton would never consider fighting Cotto at 147.
Its never discussed because if you do you could be charged with consipiracy to committ murder. LOL
Hatton can't handle Cotto. Collazo and PBF both hurt him, they are arguably the two lightest hitting top 10 WW's.
i think you really missing my point, that's not what i was implying at all.
here's what i meant so you get a better picture
floyds way of showing his love towards the sport is by retiring and unretiring all for money, then going into wrestling and saying how much he loves it and how it's bigger than any other sport. this is not taken out of context and this is coming from a boxer. that proves that he's a hypocrite, he says one thing when it's convinient for him, and says the other when he feels like it depending on the given moment.
fighter who avoids best opponents and starts talking shit about other fighters shows that he's got no class. P4P list is not designed for those only with ability, which floyd clearly shown he has. BUT P4P is also designed for best fighters who face other great fighters to match their skills. everyone floyd has faced since the castillo fights has been of lesser ability, older, smaller, or unispired. he hasnt faced anyone he wasnt expected to beat. thus it doesnt qualify him P4P on my list. he hasnt faced Margarito, Cintron, Clottey, Cotto, Williams, WHY NOT?
i love fighters like mike tyson, ali who were all prime trash talkers. but they backed their talk up, with floyd it's empty talk.
when ali said the guy is a bum, he went out in the ring and dealt with him. when floyd says a guy like cotto is a bum, he goes into retirement and says that he has nothing to prove, and he's the best. How the fuck do you explain that.
floyd is all bark but no bite.
it has nothing to do with fighters being gentle in the sport that kills and that's not what i was saying.

Exactly, if he is so far ahead of all other WW's then prove it, I could care less if he talked shit 24/7 if he went out there and backed it up against the best opponents instead he takes the easy way out although it's for more money it still looks bad for his legacy. If Cotto and all them are easy money go in there and get an easy 8--10 million to fight them, don't discredit them just for the sake of not wanting to fight them, scared or not he still ain't fighting the best, unless Zab Judah recracked the top 10 WW's Floyd hasn't beaten any of the current top 10 WW's yet somehow he is P4P #1????
Like I said I am just concerned Cotto loses before a Floyd showdown b/c he is fighitng all the prime WW's or is set to fight them. Now if Cotto took the Floyd approach I would careless and he would be safe for his 0 not to go, but getting into the ring with dangerous fighter after dangerous fighter is gonna end up resulting in a loss down the road and that 1 loss alone will discredit Cotto in Floyd's eyes but fuck it I guess b/c as long as Cotto keeps pleasing the fans he can prolly lose and not be thrown to the side.
i see your logic and that's proper management. but i like cotto for that. he definetly has the old school mentality and prides himself on taking on all comers, which should be every fighter's attitude.
but just imagine what kind of shitstorm of a mouth that floyd would lay on cotto if miguel was in fact facing lesser fighters. floyd would be relentless with his lip going all out on how cotto isnt facing anyone and fighting bums. That would just give him more reasons not to make this fight, and in the eyes of most fans he'll be justified for his reasoning. Like i wrote in earlier post for floyd it works both ways.
but cotto is not fighting to impress floyd or to convince floyd that he's worthy of a challenge. miguel is fighting for miguel, and i think that deep in his heart he couldnt care less of what mayweather thought of him. Because years ahead it would be floyd who'll suffer for not making the fight not miguel.
besides cotto is above mayweather's standards. floyd is always looking for attention, he wants people notice him. in boxing people usualy pay little notice for what you do outside of the ring, rather than what you do inside. in rare instances there's an exception, like ali's draft refusual. but that was history in the making.
floyd is just acting like an idiot while thinking it makes him charismatic.
floyd is either waiting for cotto to loose, so he can convince himself that he could beat him,
or
he's waiting for a bigger lay off, so when he comes in to the ring and looses he can say that he wasnt the mayweather that he is. he's old, he would collect the money for his loss and retire without fighting again. this would convince people that if fact floyd was past his prime and never fought again.
whatever floyd is doing is smart business sense. but it's not smart of him to think that other people are stupid
Im tired of hearing this. u know whats hurtin the smart. All this political correctness. Im old school. Since when did boxers have to be all nice and respectful to each other. This is boxing not golf. A sport where 2 men try to basically kill each other. But before we get in the ring and u try to end my life with one of those punches lets sit down and have some tea. Boxing is about smack talking and the fact thats its gettin so soft is whats hurtin it.
As far a floyd discreditng other fighters. He can do that. He is the best and has earned that right. Hey i play ball and i know im good. If u aint better than me then dont even mention my name cause i'll tell u about self.Thats the way the world works and for the people who got a problem with that its obvious that they never been one of the best at anything. i think you really missing my point, that's not what i was implying at all.

it works both ways because floyd will discredit him either way. if he fought hatton, floyd will say that he already exposed ricky and knocked him out. if he fights oscar (that wont happen) floyd will say he already beat oscar, and he's old, and that miguel is fighting his left overs. that should tell you that no matter who miguel steps into the ring with, floyd will find a way to downgrade cotto's victories like he's doing now.
right now the best are fighting the best. cintron a dangerous fighter is facing one of the better welterweights in margarito, then cotto should face the winner if his fight with mayorga soppousedly goes off or doesnt go off. either way these guys are making the effort to step into the ring with each other to determine their standing in the division.
they dont go in other sports to diss other fighters and trash the sport. that's not sportsmanlike and it hurts the tradition of boxing.

At 140 I'm not sure exactly what would happen because Hatton has looked unbeaten at it, but at 147 Cotto gives him a beating. I don't even say that to discredit Hatton, who I honestly think could beat any of the other top welterweights save Floyd and Cotto, despite clearly not being a welterweight. I say that because I don't think anyone can beat Cotto at 147.
I'm a big fan of Mayweather as a fighter, even if I do feel he's being a sellout and he is currently the number 1 P4P fighter, but he'd lose to Cotto. Cotto is both a big puncher and a surprisingly good technical fighter, something I think would rattle Floyd.
I'm no Cotto nuthugger mind. I realise it would be a close fight and could go either way.
I agree fully and want Cotto to keep fighting within his division but he could easily end up losing if he keeps fighting the caliber of fighters he his fighting and that will just make Floyd say see he was never worthy he just lost and even though thats ignorance that is how he thinks and his fans think, I am just saying if he wants a date with Floyd he is gonna have to pull off something like a Hatton or DLH fight b/c fighting Gomez, Marg/Cintron winner and Mayorga ain't gonna get it no matter how good them fighters are Floyd discredits every last one of them and will continue to do so. I just don't want Cotto to lose before he gets his shot at Floyd!!!!

floyd almost ended hatton's life with his punches, and everyone knows that mayweather is not a big puncher, but his shots were hurting hatton. on that night you'd think floyd was one of the biggest punchers when he was trading with hatton. cotto is a harder puncher than floyd and his style is similar to hatton. ricky is probably more wreckless but miguel goes into it and i think that will be bad news for ricky. hatton is just not a welterweight, and cotto is not gonna move down anymore because he feels strongest at 147. no point of that fight happening because ricky may get hurt, and get knocked out even faster that in his fight with floyd
this is all just mayweather talk. by listening to floyd fans preceive that cotto needs to fight names to build his fanbase. that's bs because miguel already has a fanbase and doesnt need anymore tune up fights.

everybody knows why.but it isn't discussed cause hatton is a cool "BLOKE"

Cotto isn't fighting at any catchweight. He is a 147 lb titleholder and beating Hatton would prove nothing. Beating Margarito or Cintron would.
