Rocky Balboa was based on a fighter named Chuck Wepner.
Sylvestor Stallone attended a fight between Muhammad Ali and Chuck Wepner, and Chuck was basically a no skill fighter going up against the best boxer of the time, Muhammad Ali (Apollo Creed). Chuck got beaten up the whole time by Ali, but he kep coming and he didnt give up, and actually scored a flash knockdown against Ali.
Its where Stallone came up with the idea of Rocky, based on Chuck Wepner. Apollo Creed is obviously Muhammad Ali, the loud mouth cocky over confident boxer...
Only the character is based on a real person, the rest of the story is all bullshit... Chuck Wepner actually tried to sue Stallone because he stole the idea from him (him being the actual idea) but Chuck didnt get anywhere with the lawsuit.
Youtube the fight I cant embed it.
Chuck Wepner had never been down in his entire career... not one time did he ever hit the canvas. Ali Knocked him out in the 15th round
Doesn't matter who inspired or who the character was based on the fact is Rocky Balboa the fighter from the movie is a fictional character he never existed in real life. There might be someone out there actually named Rocky Balboa but the movie "Rocky" is not his story.
I always thought Rocky was a fictional character? Did Rocky Balboa actually exist? News to me.

You can see all the videos on this account: http://www.youtube.com/user/Gomezassistant
And it is a build-up to the fight with Gomez only for the most part by Gomez' ppl, hence the "watch the journey of one man" bit in the promo. You do see Cotto in the press conference during Part 1 though.
Thanks! I appreciate it! :)
I didn't see the first part...anyone have it?

Great training exercise!.. I see they have him prepping to run around the ring for facing Cotto. :D lol jokes.
Thought it was kind of chessy.. I like Gomez though, hopefully Cotto doesn't batter him too much and he ends up getting Christina Millians AIDS infested coochie!
this is...........................................
he act's like if cotto is not hungry dude cotto is mad serious he wants to reach the all time status.
feel sorry for gomez.
anyone who has the mental toughness and will to beat the prospect of almost having a blood-clot that could have ended his life, IMO has all the advantage in his corner.
this guys a true warrior.
i hope cotto doesn't kill him.

Rocky is based on a real fighter Chuck Wepner. Apollo Creed is based on Ali.
I really love how Gomez is putting himself over.
"If Rocky can do it, I can do it" ... Yeah, because Rocky wasn't fictional.
But comparing yourself to Rocky is comparing yourself to a bum with alot of heart, if thats what he thinks he is ... Cool.
RIP Alfonso Gomez.. Naw, Gomez got a minor chance if Cotto takes him lightly.

LOL, yeah its made by Gomez's people and is more of a Gomez documentary than a Gomez-Cotto buildup documentary.
Anywayz I really like the first 2 parts of this but this one is a little cheesy IMO. The rocky music, the almost "dying". I liked it better when we saw Gomez sparring and trying to hit on Cristina Milian.
