According to reports in danish papers today, the venue might be Montreal. It seems certain that the fight wont take place in Florida where 'Pantera' hails from.
Does anybody know WHY Montreal is the front-runner for this fight? Is it because Lucien Bute will defend his title on the same card???
Why not the US??
With Bute on the same card against a good opponent, they could fill the Olympic stadium with 70,000 fans!
Bute just fought Joppy. Can he be ready for another fight in late may? Isn't it more likely to be Pascal?
Miranda vs. Kessler and Bute vs. TBD would make a great card thats for sure.
theres alot of places to hold this fight in montreal. but I just think they're waiting to see what happens to the Montreal Canadiens cuz they're in the playoffs and they get priority on the bell center arena.
they could still put the fight in Molson Stadium or Montreal Casino. a pavlik-kessler fight could easily fill the olympic stadium which can hold 70,000 for a boxing match.
I just heard that Montreal IS still the landing candidate for this fight. There is an outdoor stadium that might be used since the Bell Center is unavailable.
That sucks. I was starting to plan a mini vacation up to Montreal and going to the fight.
Sounds cool. Should the fight happen and you are going to see it, then please give us a report of the fight and the sights.
There were other reasons this might have happened.
BUT there is a conflict with NHL hockey that weekend, so Montreal is out of the picture. Venue is still being worked on.
Or perhaps a postponement??
Just a note, Ring recently called Montreal the second most important boxing city behind Las Vegas. My guess is we'll be seeing alot more big bouts in Montreal.

because Bute will fill the bell center with 20 000 extremely passionate fans if he is fighting on the same card as I heard he will be. and the miranda-kessler winner will probably face Bute next in Montreal so its a showcase fight although montrealers who will be attending that fight most likely already know who kessler and miranda are.
I saw that the casamayor-katsidis fight was in a venue that held like 6000 fans. they coulda easily sold out 20 000 in montreal. I have a feeling that other than las vegas, montreal will be the biggest money making and most exciting place to hold a fight in the future.
The reason this fight is being held in Montreal:
Keep an eye on the undercard.
If they put Bute on the undercard that means they are looking to put him in with Kessler if he beats Miranda.
If they put Pascal on the undercard it means they are looking to put Miranda in with Pascal after this fight.
Either way, Kessler-Bute / Pascal-Miranda will both most certainly happen in Montreal, so it makes perfect sense to have Kessler fight Miranda there.
I think both of these possible match ups happen for sure if Kessler wins on the 24th. I truly believe Pascal will fight Miranda even if Miranda loses to Kessler.
Factor in that Montreal has been pulling in big attendance for boxing the last 5 years or so and it's a no-brainer to hold it there.
The venue doesn't matter to me as long as the crowd is good.
For all the reasons you say... plus, there are some interesting events behind the scene that makes this even more interesteing.
Pascal/Bute in the works possibly? Thats what came to mind when I read the thread title. I don't believe Pacal belongs in the category as the other three fighters though.

hmmmmmmm...... wassup?
Can you unveil a little?
Quebec is probably the biggest Boxing Market in North America not named Mexico..
Montreal is a World Class City ... and as the City of my Birth.. I feel some insult.. and Would like to slap you for your ingnorance, xenophobia and arrogance..
Just slap me for ignorance.
I just didn't knew that Quebec had so strong a boxing community. It does sound great if the fight would attract as big an attendance as mentioned above.
Btw I love Canadian hockey teams specially the flames and the maple leafs.
Huh? Look at the recent fights in Atlantic City, Madison Square Garden, Las Vegas, etc. etc.
attendance it atlantic city is down. MSG really ony gets filled with Cotto or Vlad. Vegas? the onyl 2 fighters that can sell out vegas right now are DLH and Mayweather. Miranda/Kessler/Calzaghe/Hopkins/Taylor/Winky etc wouldnt be able to fill seats in those venues. You can only do big attendance numbers if you're a HUGE name in the US right now. Its not like that in other countries.
canada is more welcoming of boxing than the US. to tell you the truth, it now seems as if the US has the weakest support for boxing right now.
