Fighting out of Enzo Calzaghe's impressive stable, rated number five by the WBO and with the WBU Championship in the bag, Welsh middleweight Gary Lockett spoke with BritishBoxing.net about his life in and out of the ring. The big punching 30-year-old, known as the Rocket Man, won the vacant WBU title in March 2006 in what turned out to be a short fight against Battersea based Gilbert Eastman (then 20-3-0)-
“The title is a fringe title if we're all honest about it, but it was a lot of hard work leading up from when I was eight years old and first started boxing. Many setbacks, lots of messing about by various promoters, and I was finally given the chance by Mr Warren to win the title and it was all over in a minute and 20 something seconds, so it was very good to win it." (more)
Something I found strange was the fact he said he doesn't think he can beat Jermain Taylor and Winky Wright because they are elite fighters :ugh:. I hope he realises what he's got himself into. He also talks a lot about working with Enzo Calzaghe and about Joe.
If Joe loses then this could be a bad year for Enzo's champs. Macca got blown out pretty quick. Joe has a good shot. Then Lockett who hasn't faced anybody the like of Pavlik, it doesn't look good for him.
Pavlik deserves a soft touch. There's no softer touch than a UK fighter...
you intelligence is so insightful! NOT! :nonono:
do you realize how stupid and ignorant this statement is????????????
Maccarinelli was going to go to Vegas to spar with Joe but after being stopped his is banned from all boxing for 29 days.
hahaha. enzo has him digging ditches
enzo gonna be puttin these guys to work doin slave labor if they keep losing.. what do you think he has macca doin right now??
I don't think Enzo Cal has given Mac permission to come back to Wales just yet..
Enzo Calzaghe is rackin up the L's in 08.. I hope Gavin Rees doesn't lose

yeah, that is strange, and not confident. how old is the interview?
He's number 1 for the WBO now, I don't know who he has beaten to be ranked as their number 1 contender. At least this will clear Pavlik from having to fight 1 of his mandatories.
