Ive seen alot of posts going both ways claining there will be a bhop knockout or a cal knockout..I think it will definately be a decision probably going towards calzaghe. Just wanted to see what you guys think.. Will it go to decision or will there be a ko??
I sincerely doubt a knockout is going to happen here. Outside of Manfredo, Calzaghe hasn't been knocking anyone out. Hopkins doesn't fight a fight that produces knockouts anymore. He's content to separate himself from opponents by countering, taking their confidence and winning rounds by default.
If anyone is going to score a KO, it's Hopkins. He's more likely to catch Calzaghe with a shot he doesn't see then the other way around. Calzaghe exposes himself a lot more than Hopkins. Hopkins' best punch, besides the right hand, is his right uppercut and I see this being an effective punch with Calzaghe who comes in square at times.
How would Calzaghe score a knockout, by flooding Hopkins with punches? Would Hopkins just stand there and let Calzaghe just wail on him? I don't think so....
i'm picking hopkins by ko.....
my reason is because anything can happen, so why not pick something that is supposedly not going to happen..........
against the grain baby.............against the grain..........
Decision.
And if you included a "LMFAO, No." option I would have voted that.

Surely you admit there's a very large gap in class between Calzaghe and those two?
I'll give you that Winky was undersized as a natural jr middle fighting at 166, but he hadn't lost a fight since the Vargas one and was a top p4p fighter prior to the Hopkins fight. And yes, Tarver looks shot now, but he certainly didn't appear to be having any problems before Hopkins slapped him silly for 12 rounds to the point that Buddy McGirt told Tarver to hold on and not get hurt in the 12th.
This is by no means saying they're as good or better than Calzaghe, but let's not pretend Winky and Tarver weren't top guys in their respective divisions when Hopkins beat them. As for the age, Calzaghe will be 36 by fight night, which for anyone but Hopkins is generally on the downside of a fighter's career.
Try age, dude. Hopkins is 43 years old. Ten years ago Calzaghe would have no chance in hell. I'm so tired of fighters lurking on the old. And why do they get so much credit for it? Is it people don't realize you shouldn't be fighting at 43?
5 years ago i think it would've been an amazing fight when both fighters at Calzaghe the most were big knockout punchers but 10 years ago Calzaghe wasn't a titlist i say 5 years ago this fight shoudllve happened and even then i'd be leaning toward a Calzaghe decision and not the shutout that you describe. In a manner similar to the RJJ - Hopkins fight which was very boring but close UD.

10 years ago Calzaghe was green and maybe would have lost a decision. Prime for prime though i don't think anyone would say he "would have no chance in hell", that would be ridiculous, disrespectful, and/or ignorant.
I don't think Calzaghe is "lurking on the old" really, he's been chasing this fight for a long time, and nearly got it all those years ago when Hopkins backed out of an agreed deal. Lets not blame JC for this fight not taking place sooner. Also Hopkins isn't your usual old fighter, because of his lifestyle he is probably in better physical shape than alot fighters in their mid 30s.

Number one weapon against a southpaw is the lead right, and nobody throws it better than Hopkins. Ask Winky, Tarver, and every other top ranked southpaw that was ranked at or near the top when Hopkins fought them.
The Welshman will probably get a late TKO with hopkins. Like the Manfedo fight but this time with no typical fraud english limey ref involved.
That stoppage was horrible.
He stopped it just as that fight was getting fucking hilarious.
Round 4 would have been hysterical, Joe could have hit him with every shot in the book, and a few random ones he just made up.
That ref fucked over 30,000 spectators and many millions more watching.
Calzaghe UD.
I don't envisage a stoppage, although i wouldn't rule out a DQ for butts or low blows - Hopkins was afterall in prison.
LOL. Damn straight.
Seriously did you see that Echols fight when Hops kO'd him with a hayemaker to the back of the head? It wasn't really funny but I still laughed my arse off. Echols was given fuck all time to recover it was comical
Or later when Echols body slammed Hopkins. haha.
Think it's my new favourite fight. If that ref is involved don't rule Hopkins caving Calzaghe's head in with the ring bell.
I voted a KO. As I have posted in an earlier thread I think JoeC will slap B-hop silly for a late stoppage.
I just cant see an old hopkinosaurus being able to land enough leather to get Joe in trouble. Joe by stoppage late perhaps by mercy from the ref.
I Picked K.O.
2 ways.
Calslappy is too much for B-Hop and possibly gets a stoppage.
This is a lrge test for hopkins.. Slapmaster throws alot of punches, and he's no dummy. If Sir-Slapsalot finds his range early*(which is hard against hopkins as we all can see from previous fights)* and can get to the body I think Age will start to show and it will be blamed on how old hopkins was. TKO-9
Hopkins is a King at counter punching... And "Slap happy Hands" throws alot of punches.
Does no one think B-HOP will land any counters from the massive amount of punches "Slapping Dragon" throws. If hopkins can respond fast enough to the openings that "The Slapin King" creates It might be counter punches that end the night. KO-8-11
I love hopkins and hope he wins.. BUTTTTT I'M LEANING TOWARDS CALZAGHE TO MAKE THIS HIS SHINING MOMENT .. AMONG MANY.
I picked decision, but if Calzaghe throws 1000+ punches in this fight, there's a good shot he'll at least hit the canvas once. I can't see giving a natural counterpuncher like Hopkins that many opportunities and getting away unscathed. Most likely though, Hopkins will land some clean shots early in the fight and Calzaghe will stop letting his hands go en route to an easy yet close Hopkins win by UD.
There is no reason whatsoever to think that Calzaghe will throw 1000+ punches in this fight. He has no reason to, since Hopkins output has dropped lately. I don't believe Bernard will find Joe quite to easy to counter, but he'll definitely catch Joe with a few.
I think it's a little silly to say this will be an easy win for Hopkins. I can see him winning, but it definitely won't be easy.
This is not going to be a knockout, nor a unanimous decision...
This is going to be a shut out.
Popkins doesn't have much to offer to Joe at this point.
I predict a come from behind KO by Hopkins in the lucky 13th round, n00b.
