The WORST ring announcer EVER???

Yeah, Lupe Contreras looks and sounds like he comes out in Mexican novelas, but this other guy was bad, and not in a good way. Seriously, I really believed he was either: A. just announce the winner of the Diaz-Campbell fight without the drama of reading the scorecards, or... B. screw up the scorecards by announcing Campbell's 2 scorecards first and then announcing Juan's scorecard last after it didn't matter. The whole thing kind of makes you appreciate the top notch ring announcers.

They made too big of a deal about it on TV. I would like to see Lampley speak 2 languages like the announcer did

Exactly what I thought of, it was quite bizarre/comical - not to mention incredibly distracting to the fighters. U seen them just listening to the announcement, if i was mascaeve ida takin that oppertinity to swing a haymaker and take peter out, and if i was peter ida done the sam thing. It is absolutly a joke what that announce did

ouch At least he shows that a bad announcer can wreck a show. It must have been a sponorship issue with a hotel in Cancun. He was wearing one of the hotel shirts. Lupe is awesome, Joe Martinez is very good. The guy from Florida who has done some ESPN announcing lately is very capable; wish I could remember his name. The Philadelphia guy, Larry Tornambe, sounds excellent and has some TV, he was on ESPN from Delaware in Feb.

yeah, I really like Contreras and this guy was TERRIBLE. It was actually hard to listen to. If you can get your hands on to the telefutura telecast of Juan Manuel Marquez vs Baby Lorona though, that guy tops him. That shit is hilarious, dude didn't speak english and made words up. Yea lupe's transition from english to spanish is fucking FLAWLESS. This is how I rank my announcers. 1. "The Classy" Jimmy Lennon Jr. 2. Lupe Contreras 3. Michael Buffer I like jimmy the best because his voice has the old school announcer thing going and he also speaks spanish very well. He has a great spanish accent when speaks. Buffer just tries to hard. Other than the "lets get ready to rumble" I'm not a big fan.

yea! you could see the fights just standing there trying to listen to the scores DURING the fight. If you gonna do openscoring, do it inbetween rounds. It sucks all the life out of the fight if u do it DURING the rounds He was so bad that there can't even be two sides to the story. He was an embarrassment for the entire promotion.

The whole production they put on tonight in Mexico was just terrible. The judges, the ref's, the announcer...just terrible.

That guy was AMAZINGLY bad!!! lol. It was almost frustrating to listen to him try to read off those DIAZ-CAMPBELL scores. lol. Its guys like this that make you appreciate Buffer and Lennon Jr. When those guys are gone, we are gonna have to listen to crap like that before and after every fight. Thank god Peter-Maskaev didnt go to the cards yeah he sucked its was annoying.

Location should have nothing to do with Buffer not being there. He did Povetkin/Chambers and Kessler/Calzaghe recently.
