Ike already delt with Chris Byrd, he knocked him out brutally:) I also wish that Ike had fought the likes of Holyfield, Bowe, Lennox ect because he had the tools to compete on that level. He was very technically polished and reminded me of a cruiserweight version of Evander Holyfield. It was scary to think about a fighter his size with all of that stamina, power, speed, skill, and ability. Its frustating to me when i think about him fighting the elites because i think that he would have beat them all. He already knocked out Byrd, (a former champion) and probably the only man in heavyweight history that could stand in front of prime David Tua and out slug him.

lol,,I still wonder to this day what byrd was complaining to the ref about? I dont think he even realized he was ever knocked down in the fight until he viewed it afterwards
I'm conservative ok. That word can mean a million different things now adays, I dont like to use it but I'll use it for lack of a better one. conservative social issues and some other things. Pat Buchanan is somebody I agree alot with.
However I have to ask how you can strongly support Ron Paul's philosophy or principles or policy as they apply to trade. If you apply what he thinks to trade he's for all out no holds barred international trade like a world wide Nafta. The current government is way too much like that. Think of what that does to the United States. It's a race to the bottom with Indonesia and China on labor and many other things. General Motors 'we're buying out 30,000 employees and hiring a smaller percentage of new ones at lower salary to be more competetive.' ok.The US government needs to tax the heck out of companies that use labor from those sort of countries so that what they're cutting in labor costs they'll pay in tax. It's not 'fair trade' if your playing on such uneven terms.
The State of Ohio has lost 250,000 jobs in manufacturing just since the year 2000. Think back to 1988, 1980, 1976, 1963 probably gone down since about 63. Going down faster and faster.
A real conservative wouldnt vote for a globalist and socialist who wants a global UN tax. Ron Paul wants to get out of NAFTA. Nafta is not free trade, it is managed trade by the corporate-politicians in each country to fatten their own pockets. Right now there is a NAFTA superhighway being built across the United states. The land will be taken from citizens through the Un-American ideology of eminent domain.
Obviously if foreign countries put tariffs on us, we will put tariffs on them.
Honestly, you can blame the Unions for the loss of jobs. Toyota is expanding its factories in the US because it is not held hostage by the Unions who demand artificially high wages and benefits. The same thing happened with US Steel.
I do agree though on some protectionism against foreign competitors, just because they may have some malicious intent, but a truly open economy always provides the best goods and services to the highest amount of people.
Yes, he wont his recent fights by KO

ibragimov would shut tua out. tua has barely sqeaked by c level opposition in several recent fights. have you even watched his recent fights? I cant see him beating anyone in the top 10 let alone a champion
Yes, he wont his recent fights by KO
Think about the bums like Ibragimov that are competing for and winning titles, then tell me that a 48-3 David Tua doesnt deserve a shot at the very least.
easy on Sultan pal...
;)
I’d very much like to see Tua back in the ‘hw mix’ again, but unfortunately he doesn’t seem to want to step up his level of competition. There were rumors early this year that he’d face hw prospect Chris Arreola but the fight never materialized and Chris ended up facing Cliff Couser…
The unfortunate fact of the situation is that, if Tua got in good condition he could probably beat some of decent competition and get himself a shot. However, right now, he has no business stepping in with one of the titlists….
In his prime, I think he's the most intimidating Heavyweight I've ever seen.
The way he'd just attack and impose his will.
impose his will.... definitely
WHO AM I?!?!?!?
This is a joke, right?
It's not as if the sport is regularly tainted by undeserved opportunities given to the fighters of yesteryear. Forget the guys who have earned it, this guy won some big fights twelve years ago
Is this a joke thread???
His chance at being a champ has long come and gone...the window closed a long time ago.
Fire in the belly????...there's nothing in his belly but cheese-burgers.
If he had just a little fire he would have been a champion, sitting on a houseful of money.
I feel the same way, Ibeabuchi could be great and he would have rid us of the Byrd/Ruiz era.
Imagine the epic battles he could have had with Holy, Bowe, Lennox, Vitali and possibly Wlad.

Yes, and Ike Ibeabuchi was a waste of talent. There is no doubt in my mind that he would have become one of the greatest heavyweights of all time if didn't go to jail for rape. After that fight, Tua's spirit was broke and he didn't train properly for most of his fights back then. He could have had a belt if he had came into fights properly. I miss those days when the heavyweights looked like them, instead of all of them being from russia. :fing02:

Hey Slick... thanks for posting the video of that incredible fight, it's nice to watch it over again.
Man, what a brutal war, can't understand how both fighters were able to stand after taking some many huge bombs the whole fight, but I do understand why both never reached anything after that. Something like that just fucks your brains out for good.
Every of today's HWs would be KOed by a tenth of those landed punches.

Out of all the heavyweight champions, Tua has the best chance at beating Maskaev, which is a guy that he has already knocked out. In my opinion, Peter will beat Maskaev anyway so Tua's chances of getting a belt is very limited. He will run into problems with those pure boxers like Chagaev and especially Wladimir.
Prime Tua was a monster and i would have picked him to beat Tyson. He had fast hands, power, combination punching, and all of the heart in the world. I personally think that Mr. Ibeabuchi had a lot to do with Tua not getting a title. I think that Ike broke his spirit when he stood there and out slugged Tua, which nobody has ever done before.
