IMO, Forrest is the man with the best chance to beat Floyd. He's the only man out there that I would favor to beat him. I don't want to hear about weight classes. Floyd fought and beat a game DLH at 154 and Forrest fights in the 152-154 range. No excuses about Forrest being the bigger man. I think he would have a better chance than Cotto.
I'm sure I'll get flamed to hell. But, bring it. That's my opinion. Even at 37, I believe Vernon is the most dangerous opponent for Floyd. Unfortunetly, he's far too dangerous and not worth enough money for Floyd. I'm a Floyd fan, and my money's been with him his last 4 fights. But it wouldn't be there if he was fighting Forrest.
I agree with the post, but i dont think Floyd takes that chance. The only way Forrest could possibly get a shot is to fight and dominate Miguel Cotto, then talk some trash afterwards about you were afraid to fight Cotto. Look what i did to him. He's going to have to do what Tarver did to Roy Jones and thats get under his skin.
Sitting back and being nice won't get him a shot at Floyd.
this is what i saw, based on his last two outings,
forrest is scared to get tagged he has that beating on the back of his mind,
remember he had shoulder problems, he is not the same and also he is @ 154lbs now, which is not the same, the forrest i remember is the one that beat mosley, but the thing is he is not like that now
I'm not saying he could beat Mayweather, just saying it would be interesting and as competitive as most any other matchup out there for Floyd right now. I wonder how much better Vernon's career would have been in he never fought Mayorga, who just seemed to have his number. He wasted two years after those fights.
Yeah but Vernon beat a younger, better version of Mosley, and doesn't seem to have faded that much since then, so......

if cotto doesn't bring enough to the table who beat mosley,
he also beat oscar in may of 2007 and oscar beat mayoraga who beat forrest twice....floyd is not gonna give forrest a shot

Floyd would probably get a lot of flack for fighting a 37 year old Forrest at this point. But I do agree, that the jab against Floyd is the key (he's too fast and slippery for much of anything else to land) and Vernon has an excellent one. I'd pay to watch it.

Taller opponents has not been a problem from Floyd (ex. Genaro Hernandez)
Its true Coralles included but Forrest has got an european kind of style where he doesnt throw punches downwards, He keeps his distance and throw the jab till he has you hurt or tired.
Forrest wont be able to time Mayweather as well as he did with Mosley was my point...Quartey outjabbed him but then again Quartey has a very good jab.
Am not even looking at his fight with Mosley to judge how he would do against Mayweather, I just think he has the high, straight up standing and jabbing style to give mayweather problems...I use to say Williams with another 2 or 3 fights ( To get experience) would be able to do it but forrest already has the experience but am not sure on the stamina part, Oscar with a better stamina/Jab can also do it but Mosley (Too old Now) and Cotto (Too slow) wouldnt be able to execute anything with Mayweather in the ring.
People get hardons on Forrest's fight with Mosley when it is clear as good as Mosley is he always lost to taller fighters, Mosley relied on speed not defense thats why he got hit quite often by Forrest because Forrest was timing him well. Floyd has all three speed, timing and defense. The fact of the matter is the Forrest that fought Mosley vs Mayweather would have been competitive but now I dont think Forrest can be as competitive as few years back.
Thats why i said a forrest with a great stamina beats Mayweather for me...The JAB is the key thing.
Doubtful, people forget that he clearly lost to Ike, if he got in the ring with Floyd it would be a mismatch, apparent from Round 1.
Clearly people are grasping at straws.
stop being biased. If Baldomir was shot when Forrest fought him, then he was shot when PBF fought him. PBF didnt put him through a war. He didnt put him through a grueling brutal fight. He just made him swing and miss. The notion than Carlos Baldomir was a completely broken down fighter only a year later is ridiculous, ludacris and even a lil boosie.
Baldomir was there for the taken when PBF fought him but Baldomir was in better position than when he took the Forrest fight..He was on a winning run which end with him getting a shot at Judah, He beat two high profile names coming into the Mayweather fight and that gave him a better confidence going into the PBF fight...Going into the forrest fight he didnt have alot of those advantages.
Fighters can become shot after one fight. And look, Baldomir was already 36 years old when he fought Foresst and was moving up in weight. Definetly not the same Baldomir of '06. Forrest hasn't even proved to us yet he can beat a Top JM. I don't even think he could beat Oscar or Cory Spinks.

Woah Woah Woah there pawtna. If you're gonna hate on Forest for beating a shot Baldomir, then you gotta do the same for Floyd man. Forest fought Baldomir only a year later. You can't tell me he became "shot" during that one year.
That's true. If you take away his unlikely win over the immature Judah, Baldomir is nothing but a durable but rather ordinary journeyman. His win over Clottey was a robbery and people will be reminded how little beating Gatti meant when they see Gomez get obliterated by Cotto in April. Floyd won the title over one of the worst welterweight champions ever and Forrest didn't really prove anything by beating him either.

The same Foresst who beat a blown up, shot Baldomir?

The same Forrest who got a gift decision against Ike Quartey? The same Foresst who beat a blown up, shot Baldomir? Maybe the Forrest of 6-7 years ago has a good shot at Floyd, but certainly not the 38 year old Foresst. Even then, I still se Foresst being outboxed by Mayweather. Mayweather is no Shane Mosley, that's for sure.
