I would like to see Forbes pull the upset because I don't want to have to wait until 2009 for Mayweather-Cotto. That said, if Forbes does pull the upset and there's already a fight setup between Cotto-Margarito/Cintron winner what happens next? Do they call off that fight and plan Mayweather-Cotto for September or do they go through with that fight and plan Mayweather-Cotto for Nov. or Dec. and just pray like he!! that Cotto doesn't get upset or injured?
Just curious...(yes I know I'm getting way ahead of myself, but I'm just curious)
No, I think a loss to Forbes would let all the air out of that balloon.
Not if the backing goes away and he has to take a paycut. The only reason Mayweather-Judah took place is because Zab agreed to a steep cut in pay. You can't sell this fight if Oscar loses to an inferior talent first (no disrespect to Forbes).
You're probably right, and in the Judah case, it helped that Baldomir couldn't afford to pay the sanctioning fees and Judah was allowed to keep a world title. In this case DLH wouldn't have a belt and would have lost 4 (arguably 5) of his last 6 fights.
Unfortunelty, I think all the judges will be massivly paid off before the fight, as long as ODLH is standing after 12, the fight is his.
Agree with this 100%
mayweather will fight him anyway

yeah they need to do some work on the HW division man that is boring
I'll be surprised if they don't very soon. It should boost their ratings if they get any credible talent.
And by the time it is over that will add up to 0-3. The series has been good for making names bigger, but not producing any world champions.

Floyd is ONLY going to fight for money. If he fights anyone other than Cotto it'd be Mosley, but by that point they wouldn't call off Mosley-Judah or probably even Mosley-Quintana. I could see Floyd agreeing to fight Mosley instead of Cotto, but he wouldn't fight Forbes.
But see, that's the thing with a boxer whose main motivation is money. We can't ever truly predict what is going to happen- we can only make guesses based on the business side of the sport we know; which honestly we don't know everything of. If Floyd was fighting for legacy we know what he'd do. He'd probably fight Cotto, maybe dispense another welterweight champion- fuck, make a run for a middleweight belt for his last career fight because it'd be a loss most people excuse due to the size differential- but with Mayweather's lust for money...if they were able to market Forbes into a name to the casual fan; if he knocked De la Hoya out of the ring like Maskaev-Rahman I (I know, it won't happen) - then if, the money was right, Floyd might take an easy, easy fight in Forbes. This is all hypothetical, remember?
contender series is proven to be good,
look at gomez getting a title shot, now forbes,
and even manfredo got a crack at calzaghe in whales

I think I'd shoot myself if Forbes somehow, by a rift in the cosmic balance, beat an old De la Hoya. Why? Because god forbid, rather than take on a risky threat in Cotto, Money May decides to take on ' the other guy that beat Oscar' and actually go for a smaller, easier payday with a Mayweather-Forbes fight. I could see that happening....then again, if Mayweather chases the money...he can get more fighting almost anyone else I'd think.

Even if Forbes somehow manages to beat DLH, I'm pretty sure Floyd will fight him anyway.
