On February 9, 2008, undefeated WBO Welterweight champion, Paul Williams, experienced his first professional defeat via unanimous decision to Puerto Rican challenger , Carlos Quintana, who steadily outworked and outboxed Williams over the duration of 12 rounds.
Be it at Welterweight or Junior Middleweight, who do you expect or hope for Paul Williams to fight next?
The winner of Margarito/Cintron, I really think Williams should fight Margarito again, I thought there first fight was really close, although I guess most didn't? Clottey/Quintana Margarito/Cintron then Margarito/Williams then after that it should be the winners facing off. Margarito should have to go through more obstacles anyways due to his record and recent loss to Williams!!!! (and I am a Margarito fan)
word. that makes more sense. If he were to fight there i would still like to see him fight the loser of margarito v. cintron, as there is a history between all three of them, and i think marg or cintron would be very comfortable at that weight.
im not so sure about pwils effectiveness at higher weights. He has very limited power at 147lbs, and it will be worse at 154. I think margarito showed guys with any power how to fight him in the second half of their fight - 1. Dont try to outbox him, his stamania is just too good and he will make you look bad, even if they are slapping arm punches, and 2. They are just slapping punches, so move within range and then hit him, cuz you aint gonna get "punished"
However, the high up he is in weight, the stamina GENERALLY dips. Not for him though, his opponents. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
but seriously though, I want to see him up against vernon forrest. forrest would school his ass all over the ring. it would be a 12 round easy sweep for forrest IMO.

someone shorter than 5'9 cuz quintana was able to by-pass his jab and reach his chin. he will be looking for even more of a height and reach advantage in his next fight to compensate for his lack of skill.
My mistake, I meant to type Junior Middleweight

I think he could do fairly well at 154. With their punch outpoint, (generally) he and Ouma would be a good one to watch.

Williams has a rematch clause with Quintana after one optional defense for Quintana. So if Williams fights at 147 again it figures to be against him in an attempt to regain his title. If Williams chooses to move up to 154, I'm sure he'll try for a title shot. If he can't get one he'll have to take a tune up fight as he has already been more inactive than he should have been.
Williams is junk.

Well, considering he weighed in, day of, at 17lbs over the welterweight limit, Junior welterweight aint gonna happen. I think he should fight the loser of Margarito vs. Cintron.
