To call out for Cotto and have Cotto? I think Cotto needs Williams too. That's imo number 2 vs number 3 welterweights right there, being Cotto number 3 :)
I think that fight has to happen. Cotto is more desusional than Williams. Williams wants Cotto. Cotto wants Mayweather, Mayweather wants Oscar and wants no part of the younger WW clearly. I also think Cotto will start to feel the Williams call louder once he get another win vs a good fighter - quintana. Yes Cotto has already beaten Quintana but hasn't beat Margarito, Williams has.

But Margarito-Cotto would be a more entertaining fight
That's the kind of complete Bullshit Cotto fans and people who hate Williams say. He's ready. He's beaten Margarito, a fighter tough as nails and strong as Cotto. He's beaten Margo for 12 entire rounds and even the hardcore fans of Margarito didn't give Margo more than 3 rounds. He doesn't slap, he does have some power and the fact Cotto tired vs low output Shane Mosley can only leave you guessing what the accumulation of punches Williams would land do...
He IS ready.
Looks like Williams won't be the guy to save Mayweather from having to face Miguel Cotto, as you had hoped in your prayers. It is you who is not ready to think or form opinions.
So list some fighters you would pick to beat Williams and state why they would beat Williams.
I'm waiting.
Mayweather and Cotto. Why? Because they are better. I would like to see him fight Margarito again as well.
I guess I should add Quintana to that list.
:lol1: :lol1:
Whatever; this guy will be fighting up-and-comers in two years, but for the time being I've nothing against watching Cotto ruin him.

Williams beating Cotto's sloppy seconds gives him the "right" to what exactly?
Cotto beating Floyd's sloppy seconds gives him the "right" to what exactly?
I give Quintana mad credit for stepping it up and facing Williams when Judah, Mosley, Cintron and some others refused to do so. William's promoter had to take Margarito to court to get the fight done and still it was in their terms with Margarito getting a career high payday and a 80-20 split even though Williams was the mandatory and WBO would have stripped Margarito if he didn't face him. This is a quote from Quintana himself:
Carlos Quintana: "Everybody fears Williams, but I'm not afraid of him. I welcome the opportunity. The fans know that I can fight, I showed that against Cotto."
What can Williams do if no one wants to fight him? I dont blame them though...Williams has fought and knocked out middleweights...I dont think its fair to the Welterweights. And yeah Margarito won 3 or 4 rounds against Williams and we all know Margarito throws 1000 punches and has a decent chin/power.
Margarito couldn't get pussies like Spinks or Judah to fight him for FIVE YEARS while he was a champ at WW. Paul just won his title, I don't feel sorry for him yet. And Margarito could have let them strip him and fight Cotto for another title, which probably would have been the smarter move.
No I won't. I don't see how beating a guy Cotto KO'd will give him the right to fight Cotto.
But I do think Quintana is a pretty good fighter. Better than he is given credit for.

Who is Cotto fighting after Gomez? Any idea? I'll wait for you to answer that one...
Well I wouldn't call a guy losing 115-113 (I had it 8-4) sloppy seconds, but I get your drift.
Either way, Williams would have to be really impressive, otherwise I don't see why he'd be a better option than Margarito. Who imo poses a bigger threat to Cotto, and definitely brings in more bank.

Cotto has beaten 15 top 50 guys, Williams has beaten 4. Like Floyd, Cotto can fight who he wants, Paul still has to earn his stripes. Tonight is a small step in that direction, but who has Quintana beat again?

Isn't he fighting Cintron/Margarito Winner? If so I don't think that is a cake walk!!!!
I don't think a Williams win over Quintana can really help his Cotto cause unless it is spectacular. I mean, Cotto already put him away in 5. I don't think Williams has the style or ability to do it in less than 5, so he's just going to come out looking worse on paper.
Cotto will have two belts by the time this fatal four way finishes. Unification with Floyd, HELL YEAH. Williams is seriously going to be left out of the loop. He just better hope he get's a shot at the winner of Mosley/Judah.
That sucks big time, i hope the best WW today isn't left out. Btw he has one of the belts, there's no real unification without Williams in the mix.
