i get a kick when this subject comes up and clowns talk about a fight where one guy deserved to win 115-114 and about half of the ringside press scored for one guy and the other half scored for the other.
Truly wretched decisions are Escalera-Everett, Holyfield-Lewis I, Nelson-Fenech I, Augustus-Burton, etc...
However, none of these equal the disgusting and disgraceful "contest" that was the first bout between Juan Coggi and Eder Gonzalez.
Harder to find footage, so here's an article recapping this.

Home field advantage. Teams in every sport spend the entire regular season fighting to secure it, and the very best of them have it throughout the entire playoffs as a reward for their success. It’s a result of human nature; for some reason we are much more comfortable performing in front of people who want us to succeed and who are willing to do their part to make it happen. The feeling of belonging and support give us the extra push we need to achieve the main objective – winning the game while pleasing the audiences both at the stadium and watching on television. The "away" team, on the other hand, must adopt an unnatural mindset; they must find pleasure in playing spoiler and draw strength from the booing that accompanies their success. When they do a good job, they must generate the immediate positive feedback among themselves and be content to wait until they return home to receive it from their fans.
Boxing may be a one-on-one sport in the ring, but the concept of home field advantage is just as strong. The size of the ring and the canvas surface is often tailored to the house fighter’s strengths and the term "hometown decision" is firmly in the sport’s lexicon. But even boxing has its limits and those limits were crossed in a most outrageous way on December 17, 1993 when Argentine Juan Coggi defended his WBA junior welterweight title against Colombian Eder Gonzalez at the Club Defensores de Villa Lujan in San Miguel, Tucuman, Argentina. The events that occurred were so blatantly one-sided that one in-ring participant ended up being banned for life.
Ive heard Nelson actually had Malaria during the first fight or some other real bad disease. But Fenech was a really good fighter regardless.
Yeah even do Fenech should of got the decision, Nelson did have Malaria going into the fight.
I need to stop watching this fight, because everytime I watch it I just get more angry. Reid won that fight by at least 9 rounds not including the KD which was ruled a slip. This commentary was Duke Mckenzies finest hour. I agree with him 100%, the ref and Ottke are a complete joke.
If there's been a bigger robbery in the history of any sport, I haven't seen it.
Ive watched both the English and American telecasts and no-one on the US Commentry team scored it Mayweather neither did any UK caller nor did anyone from the British section of press row. I think the punch stats cleared it up for them.
What one did you watch the Chinese one? i havent seen that one yet anywhere i can download it it must be shot through a lens covered in Mayweathers semen.
Well you may remember that in the rematch on HBO, they said that press row was about even in their scoring on the fight.
Even so... if one neutral press-row scorer gave it to Mayweather, it's not the worst robbery ever.
Casamayor-Santa Cruz is worse, and by a lot.
Dude! This is a load of BS! Fighters get checked out by a Doctor before they fight and would not have let Azumah fight if he had malaria. Were not talking about a general cold here!!! Malaria's serious s*** to have. And if the Doctor let Azumah fight with malaria the Doctor should be banned from ever practicing again. This is just Azumah's BS excuse for getting taken to school in first fight.
Lol... yeah.
There is no way in fucking hell a fighter would fight with Malaria... especially if they were from Africa. I just say that because Malaria is I think the #2 killer there, so they don't fuck around with that shit.

It's just golden when the commentator says "Can Reid win the fight, YES Is Reid winning the fight, YES if Reid keeps doing what he is doing (winning the fight) will he win, NO.
Maybe its the way I've been bought up, but I wouldn't want a belt if I knew I won it through cheating. Ottke is a particular disgrace cause of his constant crybaby whinging in the ring, the ref just pandered to him.
I'd love to do a show where they scanned real fights onto the computer, but changed the image of the fighters so that they couldn't be recognised then got the original judges to score them those scores would be very interesting.
Ottke vs Reid

It's sad that Fenech and Walcott both lost their rematches.
They would be even more known today if they had gotten the decisions go their way in the first fights.
Walcott could've beaten Louis, Charles and Marciano. Marciano did beat him fairly but Walcott was up on all scorecards until Rocky got that legendary right hand flush into Walcott's jaw.
Fenech could've been a 4 division champion.
Fenech vs Nelson II
Louis vs Walcott II

Reid in his prime was a great fighter, to think this clown Ottke retired undefeated!
The ref job would make Joe Cortez happy!
Reid the only fighter in history to lose a point getting headbutted, Hatton the only fighter in history to lose a point hitting the top rope!
Absolute disgrace , a long slow death would be too good for that ref, an utter travesty, but then again he comes from a country that normally surrenders before war is actually declared , and Ottke comes from the eastern half of Germany which still holds athletics records fuelled by decades of drug cheating, Plus Germany in general is famous for diving footballers, elbow smashing goalkeepers and an F1 driver that was so good he didn't need to cheat but couldn't help himself. Fortunatley most people who know boxing will laugh Ottke to his grave 'his "achievements" are all there on video for people to laugh at when anyone tries to bring the cunt into a serious debate about great boxers. In boxing terms, he is irrelevant

It was sad when Fenech got KO'd by Nelson in rematch. I was 13yo and remeber sitting there stunned and my heart sank when Fenech got dropped for the second time then the ref stepped in and stopped it. The first fight draw robbed Jeff of his heart and soul. Walcott dropped Louis twice and befuddled him with his savvy style which Louis found hard to deal with. Louis even left the ring right after the bell when the officials strongly recommended Louis to hang around for the scores to be read out.

Louis vs Walcott II
These three decisions were VERY controversial:
Jeff Fenech v Azumah NelsonI was an absolute disgrace.
Jersey Joe Walcott v Joe LouisI was another absolute disgrace.
Bob Mirovic v Nikolai 'Lumberjack' Valuev was major BS decision.
Well lets get this clear.
It was a robbery.
Lol... you do know that press more than a few ringside scorers gave it Mayweather, and quite a few had it a draw, right?
