A true christian fighter would not hit back.
Also the world would be a better place without religion.
It actually says nothing whatsoever in the bible to condemn someone for boxing there is no preference either way. If God puts a personal conviction on you not to do something then you should follow it.
A christian should not go into the ring with the intent to kill or seriously damage a person. Even man has to earn money that is what they are doing.
I think you managed to offend a ridiculous amount of people with that last statement, religion or the ideas of most are perfect it's just the way those idea's are carried out and the people that follow them.
First I would ask if you even believe in God for asking a question like that? If not, you shouldn't worry about it. Basically, what we as Christians are saying if that if it weren't for God, you wouldn't have woke up this morning. Some people actually die in their sleep. In essence, boxers are thanking God for even being healthy enough to step into the ring. They are thanking him for giving them the mental determination to go through everything they had to do to get prepared to fight, etc. I hope everybody making these comments are atheists because y'all sound kind of ignorant.
I agree.
Has anyone ever heard someone say "I thank god everyday for being alive"?
Life is a gift, and once you realize that, you'll be grateful every day. As long as you are alive on this earth, you have something to be grateful for.
Are you serious?

I never support athletes who thank God for wins. They can all go to hell, metaphorocally speaking, the uncivilized, unreflective cavemen who think that if there were a god it would care about the outcome of a sporting event.
Most don't generally associate God with defeat. However, it depends on the fighter and his perspective on the outcome of the fight, how he arrived there etc. Some may feel they did their best despite losing and feel the need to thank God because they know there was nothing more they could have done to change the outcome. Maybe they feel the loss was in God's will for their lives.
Some of them thank God after losing. After Zab got brutalized by Cotto he thanked God(from what I remember). It is rare though.
Maybe he thanked god for making the ref stop that ass whoopin he was getting! LOL.
Surely you could figure this out without having to make a topic on it?
Blaming god for negative events would likely piss him off, regardless of who that person's god is.
Thanking god is an affirmation of him "making" you lose, which is not something that a fighter wants to have repeated often.
That is probably why.
