Saturday, February 9 - at Guanajuato, Mexico (PPV) - 10 rounds, light middleweights: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (34-1, 27 KOs) vs. Jose Celaya (31-3, 16 KOs)
Is it posible to record this fight on SoapCast while wathching Paul Williams beat up Quintana???
This is a real challenge. The guy he is fighting beat demetrius hopkins and pavlik in the amatuers and is step up from sanchez. But if chavez beats him of course he was just another bum right?
JCC Jr's opponent, Celaya had a promising start but has since fizzled. We're from the same home town, we went to the same high school, so I am well aware of him. Rumor is that in recent fights he has been coming in very overweight and had very little time to actually train (this was the case when he headlined his last show on ESPN, where he lost by KO).
With that being said, JCC by KO in the mid rounds.
Isn't the other Chavez son fighting on the same card?
Really, I hadn't heard that but maybe Omar is fighting in this one and I've heard good things from him.
Don't make any sense why this guy fights on PPV all the time, he himself is not PPV worthy let alone the opponents he has faced. I wonder what his PPV buys are? Can't be that good, I would rather pay for Arce who fights on the undercard and on the last Chavez PPV undercard!!!! You shouldn't have to pay to watch JCC JR.!!!!
he makes around 70 thousand buys, at least he made that in his last PPV fight.

Bob Arum wants to keep JCC jr. busy and not depend on HBO/ Showtime for fight dates. JCC jr. sells tickets from his name alone. At least, the kid is active

If the promoter is making money then it makes sense to him. The buyrates are low, but so are the expenses. BTW, I thought I read where Arce was injured and won't be fighting on that card.

ill be rooting for zertuche but rubio is gonna take it since zertuche is coming from 2 loses
well zertuche couldve won the zuniga fight...it was real close....most think zertuche won...
im more worried about how his chin will be holding now that pavlik broke him....
rubio aint exactly fresh and zertuche is a banger...
hope chavez shows some improvement i disliked his style against sanchez
the undercard marco antonio rubio vs zertuche looks like an awesome fight
That fight is going to steal the show.
Celaya was very highly regarded as an amateur, but to be honest, he has been a big disappointment as a pro. Still a reasonable challenge for JCC Jr at this point. Not exactly PPV worthy though.
His financial success has slowed down his career. After his fight with Sanchez there was talks about having his next fight on HBO versus either Carlos Baldomir or Alfonso Gomez, but then the PPV numbers came in and Arum decided he wasn't ready to put him on HBO and wanted to put him on some more of those PPV's. According to Arum they do very good numbers with very little promotion and so they're very profitable for Arum.
But in the long run that should mean he can easily get an hbo or showtime date versus a good opponent and finally take that next step up.

WOW, maybe I could have an intelligent conversation with you. Don't get me wrong. I believe and expect JCC Jr. to be more than hype. I like his size and he has live boxing like few are honored to have it like that. This guy was brought into boxing. He must not be dumb. He must had study styles and other boxers well enough to wisely prepare to a fight.
If he is really good, then we will see a great champ in the near future. I don't know his opponent. I knew Sanchez was a good challenge he was destined to pass. I hope he gets a decently known fighter and wins on his way to a tittle shot by 2009. I am rooting for him to do it. But, no one can't deny he has bitten a few bums. At his age, it really doesn't matter. I just hope he stays focus on a career he chose. I wish him the best, losing in the 2008 will terminate all hype.
If I get a link to it, I will gladly watch the fight. JJC Jr. situation is very interesting. He has look good agaisnt bums as expected. So in order to make a accurate opinion on him when he get a tittle shot, I want to see as much fights as posible. I can't wait to see him getting a real challenge. I hope he wins.

These small pay per views with Chavez jr. don't even make it on sopcast sometimes, but your best bet is to just download the fight afterwards.
