i really didn't see mayweather win, im not on dlh's nuts but some of the rounds floyd was not throwing any punches at all, example rounds 6,8,9...
IMO dlh won 2,3,4,6,8,9 adn maybe round 12
The Mayweather fight was winnable for DLH I think. He didn't win but with Mayweather's lack of punch out put for a majority of the fight it was there for the taking. He can win if he uses the jab and employs more tactical body punching.
If you rewatch the fight and look at the photos Mayweather's face was a bit roughed up. So Oscar did land some good shots and showed pretty good handspeed.
I think Forbes is a good tune up. He is tough and a game opponent and I don't think he'll be hesitant to mix it up at times. And it will be good work for Oscar to chase Forbes around becuase he's gonna need to condition himself to stalk Mayweather once again in the rematch.
Since he hasn't fought anywhere near 147 since March 2001, I would rank him nowhere as a welterweight. It would be like ranking Trinidad with the junior middleweights. Obviously Oscar could beat some of the rated welters, but I don't see how anyone can rate a 154 lb fighter in that division.
I think its safe to say that the top WW in no particular order are:
Floyd, Cotto, Margarito, Paul Williams, Shane Mosely, Kermit Cintron, Joshua Clottey from this list who in your opinion can Oscar beat?
Assuming DLH can even make the weight comfortably, I would still pick Floyd, Cotto, Margarito, and Williams to beat him. Mosley, Cintron, and Clottey (Judah too) would be toss up fights IMO. In full disclosure I'm admitting that Oscar is probably my least favorite fighter in boxing.
With Forbes getting robbed on a GBP card against D-Hop it's probably right that he's getting a good pay day. In a way I hope he give DLH problems and then hopefully there be even more less interest in a rematch.
I'd love to know how DLH/PBF are gonna try and sell this BS product to fans. I really don't think they can claim with a str8 face that fans need/want to see this.
It figures that DLH would pick a guy with 9 KO/TKOs in 38 fights and who's lost 2 of his last 3 (though the D-Hop fight was questionable.) But Forbes seems like a nice guy and deserves a good payday.
I would love to see a mayweather rematch. why is it unneeded? dlh gave mayweather the hardest fight of his career. download and watch the fight again. I did like 5 times. you will see that it was very winable for dlh. I'm not saying that he is gonna beat him, I'm just saying that its winnable and oscar deserves a rematch. plus mayweahter senior knows oscar better and he knows may junior better and he is a much better trainer than Roach in my opinion.
Toughest fight of his career? He won 4 rounds, tops! Here is a natural welterweight getting dominated by a natural lightweight in a jr. middleweight fight which gave all the advantages to Oscar. I don't care for a rematch at a lower weight were Oscar's advantage is much less. If the fight takes place at 147, I'd be totally surprised if Oscar could win 2 rounds and he'd be gassed by the 8th.
I hope Forbes can show us something but it's pretty sad that Oscar is picking on a natural lightweight again, and making him fight above welterweight. Yes, I know Stevie has fought at that weight before, but he looked sluggish against lesser competition. This is an easy fight for Oscar and he should be ashamed of himself.
If I were Stevie's manager, I'd suggest he didn't make this fight. His health is too much at risk (think Gatti - Gamache).
I wonder what raitings this would get. Good for Forbes. He worked hard for a good payday.

I think most people want to see Mayweather fight Cotto because that fight has way more significance for Mayweather, Cotto, the welterweight division, and boxing. A rematch honestly takes a shit on boxing fans and boxing alike. A higher percentage of people don't want to see a rematch and the fight is strictly money based. DLH last year stated that "the world awaits" was the fight that needed to be made to save boxing and as a result of it, whether directly related to or coincidence, great matchups were made consistently throughout the year. This rematch is the complete opposite of its original purpose. More people than not want to see Mayweather fight Cotto but politics are fucking that up. It makes both fighters look stupid. DLH continually interupts the flow and integrity of the WW division and Mayweather continues to cry wolf about retirement and displays his lack of passion for the sport by seemingly avoiding real competition for big paydays. It speaks volumes about his take on his legacy. It makes me question if he even gives a shit. This fight does nothing for the integrity of boxing, that's why its's unneeded.

It makes sense for him to fight Forbes to set up a rematch with Mayweather. He has a similar style to Floyd, obviously not the same speed, but he's gonna be someone that will get DLH ready for Mayweather, but at the same time doesn't really have a chance at beating him. I would have liked to see him fight Malinaggi, but Paulie probably was too much of a risk to either beat DLH or make him look not so good.
Fucking Oscar...why does he need a tune up again? To destroy a small guy so he can look good and sell a ppv with Floyd? Sorry...answered my own question. Please continue.
like i said in another thread, maybe he is trying to fight mayweather @ 147lbs he will fight forbes @ a catch weight of 150lbs so maybe by septemeber he will be healthy and in shape to make 147lbs if that's his plans
just curious, where would you rank Oscar at his current state in the WW division?

The first Castillo fight was by far the toughest match of Floyd's career. Floyd's fight with DLH was an overhyped snoozer. Of course it is your right to want to see it again, but the backlash I've been seeing here and elsewhere indicates there are plenty of fans who would rather see Mayweather move on to more interesting competition. It would be nice to see him fight top rated welterweights for a change.
