Ring Magazine already selected Floyd Mayweather Jr., but I'm sure some of you fans think a different man should have been selected. Was Ring Magazine influenced by Oscar's ownership of the magazine? In selecting the fighter of the year I think Risk, fight selection and performance should be taken into consideration. This is not intended to be a Floyd bashing thread.. just considering all the options, thoughts plse.
What's wrong with that... Calzaghe beat a world champ... unified the belts... he finally should get the credit he has long deserved.
I see 5 votes for Calzaghe but no explanations outside of personality of the year.. is this simply nuthugging or is their logic behind his votes
finally some sound reasoning.. I know there are more fans on this forum who have Calzaghe as fighter of the year, don't be shy!

Joe was the sports personality of the year and thats agaist all other sports and not just boxing so hes go my vote easily!

Exactly. No one did as much for the world of sports as Joe Calzaghe last year. But I say Kessler for fighter of the year because he showed the courage neccesary to give Joe the opportunity.
lol from he guys Kelly and Floyd fought you can say maybe Zertuche wasnt that good. and DLH was past his prime. but Taylor, Miranda and Hatton were all good and basically undefeated too. and dude Calzaghe is not God.
Hatton is ok. Taylor and Miranda couldn't beat my blind grandmother.
All the guys Pavlik and Mayweather fought were chumps. Kessler was as strong as a bull in both his fights. No one can beat Calzaghe.

no off. but are you high??
Kessler beat Andrade and lost to Calzaghe. that is not a "great" year.
Pavlik Beat Zertuche, Miranda and Taylor all in one year thats a great year.
Then you get Floyd who beats Oscar then KO's Hatton. that my friend is why Floyd is the Figther of the Year.

I think you should've put Kessler in there... after all... he did show an enormous ammount of courage in even stepping into the ring with the Great Joe Calzaghe.

Before 2007 ended I said Pavlik but after thinking about it a little more, I changed my mind to Mayweather.
He didn't fight anyone in his stacked division.. who picked Calzaghe and why?
I'd just like to see what the fans pick
No, I didn't mean you personally, I might "you" in a general sense as in boxing fans. Sorry if it came off as an attack, that was not my intention.
My guess is that most fans believe he was the boxer of the year even if they don’t like him.
No matter what you think of him Mayweather was in fact the fighter of the year. I would put Pavlik in as the runner-up.

No you idiot. Oscar had nothing to do with it. In fact there was just an editorial in Ring questioning Oscar's decision to fight PBF. Retard.
Keep it above the waistline Happy, no nuthuggers plse
