How can anyone dislike this guy.
He is great, but there's still people that despise him.
What does he have to do to gain people's respect.
I can't believe only recently in the UK he's been getting the respect he deserves.
Joe Calzaghe: One Superb Fighter
What did I say???...I said I have seen him twice,he was impressive against Lacy, and then I saw him beat up Manfredo...who lost on the contender, which was a game show.
What did I say wrong???...must I anoint Calzaghe the greatest ever, based on a good win over Lacy?
Damn you people are sensitive...
I don't think you did anything wrong my friend
I'm a fan. despite most calz fans thinking that I'm not cuz I say hopkins will beat him and that his p4p status is overrated, I really do like him. and most of the reason for his bad oponents is his mangers fault less his. thats why I still respect him as a person and fighter.
I certainly don't know why the fight never happened.I assume because he did not want to fight over here, and Hopkins didn't want to fight over there...and we as fans lost.
And how can I watch him fight non-American fighters if it is not televised here.
And despite what Europeans think, despite the lack of interest in this country about boxing...Las Vegas and to a certain extent,Madison Square Garden is the world capital of boxing.
Therefore to be a true world champion, one must fight there.
So,not to demean Calzaghe's career...but something is missing.
true to fight in msg is a big arena yet a world champ has to travel the world also. joe aitn exactly done that, but so havent a lot of champs. being the champ means you get to choose where you fight.

Didnt they show the Kessler fight in America?
What do you have against Calzaghe, Brother Blues?
Someone who's a real boxing fan would appreciate Joe's talent.

The only excuses are the ones used by the Americans who dodged him when they were prime, and are prepared to fight him now because WHEN they lose they can say they would never lose to him in their prime. Unfortunately, you gullible Americans will think to yourselves "hes been in there with him, he should know" and Joe will never get credit for anything he does, and its down to shitfaced cunts like you. Im fed up with all the Calzaghe bashing, he beats Hopkins, Jones, Taylor, Pavlik and anyone else you idiots think is a superstar, show some fucking respect for the most dominant fighter of our generation.
Please stop. Show some respect? What is he? The queen? Whatever. Gullible Americans? Dude, what does my statement have to do with America? Shitfaced cunts? Ouch.
Calzaghe would beat Taylor, Pavlik, Wright... bla blah bla blah le LA!
He didn't. Can't say for sure who's fault that is. But, I do know this: Calzaghe throughout his career has resisted fighting outside the UK or the 168 weight. You have to make sacrifices to make the best fights. For whatever reason, Calzaghe never did. Now we have questions about Calzaghe's career. The questions are fair. Same will be true with Mayweather. He chose money and security... I feel like Calzaghe did too.
id like to see joe against some better opposition outside kessler... but i dont question him as a great fighter... anyone that has gone undefeated for 15 years... HAS to have some talent... hopefully he shuts up bhop cuz no one else seems to be able to do it... and i hope its CONVINCINGLY... hops really only had ONE loss as far as im concerned and thats too roy... when bhop was still sort of green... someone needs to HAND HIM A LOSS
Very True.....

Jealous? No. Bitter? Probably. Dissapointed by the mindset of Boxing fans? ABSOLUTELY. I feel the same way about Floyd. Guys should be held accountable for their records. He never fought Taylor, Wright or Hopkins. Everyone needs to stop making excuses. These excuses, especially financial ones, are ALWAYS there. Can Cal-Z make a fortune by fighting Peter Manfredo in Wales. Yes. But then, as fans, are only weapon is to say: Hey Joe... Don't fight Manfredo/Bika/German bums... you're the best, fight the best.
For instance I love Kelly Pavlik. It looks like he's fighting John Duddy in June. I think that's bullshit. I'm not going to defend that. I'm not going to support that. Can he make a fortune at the Garden considering Duddy's ability to draw? Absolutely. Does that make it excusable? NO FUCKING WAY.
Its not going to happen, due to the money men, but wouldn't it be great if we could go back to just one governing body? Or get the press to ridicule the minor belts into insignificance? A situation where the Champion HAD to fight the number 2 ..etc. The Ring belts are a good idea, but due to the ownership of the Ring, even they are not beyond criticism. However, to end on a good note, we have had some great fights in the past year and more to come, the spectre of UFC might be enough to keep the Boxing Game honest (well....er... less dishonest). Or am I just an eternal optimist??
You seem jealous and bitter. I don't care that he's from a different country than I am - I appreciate any boxer as talented as Joe. His resume is much better than you make it out to be.
The man hasn't lost in 15 years (as a pro) and has been successfully defending a title for over ten years. He's coming off a win against a 28 year old, 39-0 fighter with two world titles!

Yeah Brother Blues. You thought you could have an opinion? You can't. Well, you can, but then you're not a REAL boxing fan. Go take your opinion elsewhere. Stop showing your ignorance by questioning Joe's weak resume.
Yep, not much pint of a forum with no debate. You certainly disprove the theory that Americans don't get irony (or are you a Canadian........lol)

I think it's more of americans denying his ability since we're wanting a foothold back in the heavier divisions.
Yeah... that's what it is. Got it. Stupid Americans.
Calzaghe would beat any fighter from any generation at any place any time. The reason he hasn't made the big fights in his career is due entirely to the unrealistic financial demands of the top American fighters. The European fighters Calzaghe fought would all destroy the top American fighters. Jeff Lacy is a modern day Henry Armstrong... blah blah blah...
Hey Joe: fight the Pavlik/Taylor winner.
Brother Blues, the fight was agreed and Hopkins doubled the money at last minute to price himself out of the fight. This is FACT.
He knew he'd get beat then and he'll get beat now
Really...well,it looks like we will all get a chance to see now.
I believe Calzaghe wins now...5 years ago,I'm not so sure.
