Hey, I badly wanted Trinidad to win, but I knew it was a very difficult task. Jones is a solid, natural 168-175 pounder while Trinidad's best weight was 154. That's a solid 15 to 20 pound advantage plus Jones was always faster and stronger. Still, Trinidad managed to win, at least, 4 rounds against a boxer who, shot or not, had better natural talent than him. Just like I admit Jones was always a superior boxer than Trinidad, some here should stop the nonsense that Jones did not want to stop Trinidad out of mercy. That's total bullshit. When Jones knocked Trinidad down, he went for the finish, but could not get it. Jones just played it safe and was content with a points decision. Both fighters showed good stuff and I think Trinidad would have gotten a win tonight had the opponent being other than Jones. Trinidad would have probably dominated De La Hoya, who should have been his return bout. Trinidad should be proud that he made one of his dreams true by stepping into the ring with Roy, in a fight that many thought would never come to fruition.

Totally agree HYPE JONES again "the return" jones a former HEAVYWEIGHT beats lil tito natural light middleweight is says it all
I fail to see how Tito is one dimensional. He boxed very well last night. He isn't a great defeinsive fighter but he showed last night he is a good boxer, not just a puncher
maybe thats why jones wanted the grant gloves. anyway, tito did very well considering the lay off. But truth be told, he has the body of a welterweight regardless of how much he weighs, he just looks smaller than those MW and LHW
Trinidad is still one dimensional and pressure still kills Roy Jones, when Trinidad was on the attack RJ just put his hands up and backed up, thats what he did against Jhonson which ultimately knock him the fuck out. Trinidad still has to set up after getting hit with straight punches. None of these guys are back the younger talent will beat them
“I tried to put him away a few times but he slipped a lot of my good punches. I had a wonderful camp and great sparring partners. It was a great fight. I can’t believe he stayed in there for all of those rounds for me. He was slipping a lot of my good punches and I felt like I was missing knocking him out by inches. I jammed my knuckle sometime during the fight. He’s got a pretty hard head..."
Post-fight comments from RJJ. It seems like he tried to finish Tito but couldn't.
I agree. People shouldn't say Jones is back based on this performace, Trinidad did a really good job considering his layoff and his physical disadvantages. I personally think it was Jones laying off and not wanting to finish Trinidad, he did the same thing with Hanshaw, don't know why.
I agree the bottom line is Jones failed to KO a much smaller man. All this talk of Jones holding back is bullshit, he didn`t have the gas in the tank to stop Trinidad.
I understand that Jones had chances, but for whatever reason, he could not finish the job. That was not out of pity. I think Jones played it safe.
No ur right it was not out of pitty, he just seems to waste oppertunitys tho. I like Jones but its sumthing that irratates me about him! Not 2nite tho, was good to see Felix last the course with the much bigger fighter
Its a great credit to Felix that he heard the final bell but Roy coulda stepped it up during the fight had he chose and got a stoppage i think but that aint really how RJ rolls. Im a MASSIVE Tito fan btw
