Im not trying to get in the middle of this verbal battle, but i just want to say that Cotto is getting plenty of shit for taking the Gomez fight. just look at some of the thread titles about that fight. that being said, i dont think he should be getting that shit. the only fight that would be available for when he wants to fight would be against Cintron. I would love to see it, but cotto's fights at welterweight have all been tough fights, and he deserves a showcase type bout. The reason i believe Floyd catches so much shit is because he wants to claim he is an ATG, sometimes even saying he is the GOAT (Bullshit, floyd!) while he refuses to fight the guys that would cement his status as an ATG. Gatti was crap when he fought him, Baldomir, while he was champion so i understand why floyd fought him, was nothing more than a guy who had a headcase named zab fall into his lap, Zab was, well, a headcase, Delahoya is 6 years outside of mattering, and Hatton was a 140lb guy who never looked good fighting at 147lbs. The talent is there at 147 for Floyd to be an all time great in every fight fans eyes, but he refuses to step up to the plate. He is a great fighter everyone knows that but he has the chance to do something Roy Jones couldn't do because of the lack of competiton he had in his prime and that is to become a top 5 fighter ever. The Welterweight division is really strong at the moment yet he decides to fight a fighter he has already beaten just to get more money, not add to his legacy. What you think? What's really gonna be horrendous is when he takes a dive in this fight to set up a third fight which will earn him a FUCKING fortune. It will also, in some way, legitmize his legacy, giving him a trilogy and making all three fights look competitive.

when you have the opportunity to get big money, go for it. only a fool will turn it down. cotto is rumored to fight gomez, why isnt he fighting a top guy? what do u you guys think fighting gomez wil do for his legacy? having de la hoya on ur resume twice says alot. lets not forget this is business also I think it's Arum's way of getting the public interested in a Cotto-Margarito match. With Mayweather, you just get this fight and then nothing.
