There are constant debates about how Calzaghe has held a title for ten years and is undefeated. The counter to this statement is that his opposition was weak. Lets rank his top 5 opponents and consider just how impressive it really is.. This is not a thread to bash Calzaghe, i would really like to know:
1. Mikkel Kessler
2. ?
3. ?
4. ?
5. ?
Didn't he lose to Steve Collins twice? Was that a consequence of Steve being the better fighter or a sign that Eubank was on the decline? Either way, the Calzaghe win over Eubank wasn't as good as some make out.
Styles make fights. Did losing to Ken Norton when Ali was 31 mean that Ali was finished? And most people fail to mention the Eubank win at all. I think putting him down for the first time in his career was pretty damn decent.
31 is not exactly ancient is it? Did you watch the fight? Did he look old to you?

Admittedly I didn not follow Jeff Lacy when he was coming up. That having been said the guys has looked as slow as a bag of bricks in every fight I have seen him including the uninspired performance against manfredo. I don't think Jeff Lacy is any good... your thoughts?
Also.. Mario Veit? He's a beer hall fighter in Germany. I know you didn't put him high... but c'mon.
Veit beat Brewer and Salem and hadn't lost to anyone except Calzaghe until 2006.
Lacy knocked out Vanderpool (something Hopkins couldn't do) and Reid (something Calzaghe couldn't do), he also beat two decent fighters Omar Sheika and Pemberton.
I didn't look at your actual points. You get points for posts as well and you're already up to 10K on posts alone. I'm sure you can find action the other way somewhere on rjj/tito
Read about the dive.... I'll take action on that.
NOt for you... You just lost all your points.

Have my doubts. But the Germans gave JC his biggest purse to fight him in Germany after Joe already obliterated him in a round in Wales. Someone believed in him. I doubt you have ever seen him though. He beat Jurgen Brahmer last year who is decent. He was freakishly tall with a good jab. You could see there was a very good fighter in there somewhere.
Yes, I feel he's better than Kessler, he was 31 when he fought Calzaghe, he fought Collins twice, both fights can be argued that he won, he then went on to Cruiserweight and lost a disputed decision to Thompson and his last lost was because of a badly swollen eye while he was leading on the cards.
Alright... maybe you're right. You probably know better than I do.
1. Mikkel Kessler
2. Jeff Lacy
3. Chris Eubank
4. Robin Reid
5. Maybe Charles Brewer, Omar Sheika, Byron Mitchell or Mario Veit? Not sure.

You really think Eubank is better than Kessler? Are you serious? How? Wha? JUst, because Calzaghe wasn't favored when the fight took place does not make Eubank better than Kessler.
Look at this way. Miranda was favored when he fought Pavlik. Pavlik will be favored when he fights Abraham (probably), that does not make Miranda better than Abraham.

I'm really not sure who should be at 5 though.

The only losses Reid had on his record after the Calzaghe fight was a clear loss to Branco RIGHT after the close fight with Calzaghe. Then he had that 'loss' against Ottke.
He was still a highly ranked fighter so it counts for Lacy.
