I'm sure if he sat down on a punch hitting a heavy bag, he'd hit twice as hard as me. He is a world champ (though probably not for a great deal longer). At the level he is at though (world class) he is a measly puncher, end of story.
Malignaggi can probably punch hard but he doesn't even try. He concentrates on accuracy and speed, like Hector Camacho or someone like that. He isn't gifted with power AND speed. I'm sure he could punch hard if he planted his feet and started swinging for the fences.
I can punch harder, but one. I'm 40 pounds more then Paulie & Paulie is a speedy flashy boxer, not a power puncher. I know this, If I fought him he would kick my ass. He a professional world champion who boxes you to death.
Paulie has knocked out 5 professional boxers and have probably hurt or wobbled more in his bouts. He is a professional world class boxer and I think he probably, if he chose to sit down on his punches, hits harder than I do. That is until I decide to seriously train and polish my technique, which I am pretty sure I don't plan on doing.
Malignaggi doesnt committ to his punches in his fights because he's more speed based. If you committ to punches with your body it's hard to maintain the same speed. If he were to throw all of his body into a straight right, he'd punch a lot harder than most realize.
Good post.
I'm not stupid and I know that any professional fighter will punch hard in comparison with an average joe, and let's not forget that although Malignaggi only has five KO wins as a professional he's knocked out five professional boxers which is five more than I have.
Having said that I am a heavyweight amateur boxer, I'm known to be a hard hitter and I've knocked people cold in the gym, so I think that I could probably generate more power from a punch than Paulie. My extra body mass would give me the extra zing I would need to outpunch him.

Damn straight......more people need to realise this. Paulie simply doesn't find it helpful to sit down on his punches. It doesn't help his style which is based around beating opponents through an accumlation of hits.

I agree, but it would probably be from an accumilation of punches, and from being drastically outboxed and made a fool of.
If me and Paulie were to each take one shot at a punching bag, I'm almost positive my punch would generate more power.
^^ That is how I feel.....I weigh about 175 and have decent technique but am not a boxer by any stretch of the imagination......
I am sure he would KO every single one of us... Under 160lbs... and I bet he could hurt a few guys over 160 too... He is a Professional boxer.. we are not..

I don't know about P4P power
Because I'm not a boxer, so I'm sure he has far, far, far better technique than I do, but I also outweigh him by 40 pounds.
