I'm not saying Hatton didn't deserve his shot (no matter how much he fouled in they're fight), but would a fight with Tszyu have been better? I'm not a fan really of any of these guys but just thought it would make an interesting discussion. Sorry if this is a repeat thread guys.
God not the whole "ZOMG FLOYD DUCKED TSZYU!!!" topic again.
Floyd wanted to fight Tszyu, but wanted Gatti first to establish himself as a name. However, after Mayweather destroyed Gatti Tszyu lost...to hatton.
"Well there was the times before that"
True, and both camps were interested, but neither were that serious in negoatations and Tszyu was injured and then Gatti came along after Tszyu got stripped. Mayweather then proceeded to establish himself as a name and then Tszyu lost.
The end.
Actually it wasn't that at all. I never said Floyd ducked him. What was Floyd suppose to fight him AFTER he lost to Hatton?
a prime Kostya would have took Floyd's head off in 4 rounds. he got concussive power. is that Jessica Alba's little coochie bent over in that pic??? who's the other little booty?
It was Alba and Longoria but now I'm on some other shit.
lol @ idiot Hatton fans complaining of Floyd fighting dirty
Hatton does it to beat bums and he's the toughest, meanest warrior around
Floyd does it (not nearly as bad as Hatton), whoops your hero, and he is a dirty fighter. Cry me a river, losers.
I forgot to answer the 1st question. No, Zoo would not have been a better opponent. Hatton was a great style matchup. Fast on his hands and feet, throws many punches form angles, and so on...
Seriously, boxing from the outside waiting to time that sledgehammer right hand would not have been a great style to do anything to Mayweather.
I entirely miss which part of Zoo's game is supposed to beat PBF.
Outside game? Please, you need some serious speed (Oscar, Zab) to even have Mayweather thinking twice on the outside. Zoo does not have that speed. Timing? It's not like Mayweather lacks that.
Midrange? ahem... once you take away that straight right hand (which is the easiest punch to take away from PBF stance, and also PBF's rolling with the rights would leave Zoo open, unless he chose not to commit to them), it's Mayweather all over again.
Close quarters? see Dec 8 for reference. Hatton outworked Zoo big time from up close, and we all saw what Mayweather can do in the clinches.
Now (after December 8) we KNOW that if Zoo tried to rough PBF on the inside, he would have gotten his share of elbows, and those sick body shots, while not landing much.
please, floyd gets criticized for walking too fast. he'll get criticized for anything, because of how he acts outside the ring to you people, so you find ways to bash his legacy and more, so don't give me this bullshit excuse.
btw, i didn't see any fighter beating floyd at 140, he was too much of a brilliant killer at that weight class, yet, was smart as shit, and as skillful as ever. also, floyd's defense was still great and he took good punches and shook them off. kosta would have not been a tougher opponent than hatton imo because hatton had faster footwork and pressured a lot better, but against floyd, you have to have a damn near perfect night to have a chance of beating him, especially at 140. kosta would have lost and lost badly imo to floyd. floyd was too brilliant for him. and kosta was pretty accurate, i'll give him that and great power in his right hand, but floyd also set don a lot on his punches and he was faster with power more than i have ever seen him in any weight class. floyd was too fast for kosta and was way more accurate than kosta was at 140, hands down, floyd's accuracy has always been great, but at this weight, his combinations were pinpoint and sharp as shit. again, imo, this was floyd in his prime at 140 in 2005. he was really aggressive at this weight and knoew where to punch at all times. and of course he was very, very, very flexible at 140. he was extremely flexible at this weight class. kosat would have been in for a long night, and not taking anything away from him, but kosta waited too long in a few of his fights to set his opponents up for power shots like his right hand. floyd took advantage of every minute in his fights at this weight class.
i actually saw floyd knocking kosta down a few times if this fighit ever occured. kosta would not have landed many clean punches on floyd at all.
Man, I would say Mayweather/Kosta would have been a much closer fight than what you stated especially since you say that Mayweather was unbeatable...etc. Bro who the hell did Mayweather fight @140....Granpa Gatti, Sharmba "I'm waiting to retire" Mitchell, and Henry "Who" Bruceles...get real these opponents would have made anybody look like a god in the boxing ring at 140 lbs.
If Zoo fought Mayweather with a 10 pounds advantage back in 2005, he would have a slim chance of decisioning him by being the aggressor and making it physical. If any Zoo fought the Mayweather that showed up on 12/8, he gets his ass kicked.
Like all the fighters Mayweather faced Zoo would not be landing any of his money punches (straight right from a distance...LOL, nothing easier to deflect with Mayweather's defense). If they fought now he would also get mauled on the inside.
I think Mayweather could/would have beaten Margarito as well. But Margarito is a much harder hitting, more active, stronger, younger and better opponent than Baldomir. Like I said, Floyd beats Marg anyway, but like other very talented fighters before him, Floyd has not taken the toughest challenges out there for him. Hatton, instead of Cotto, Williams, Clottey, etc (all much tougher challenges at WW.)
I'd probably pick the bigger money fights as well, but he does open himself up to some criticism by doing so.please, floyd gets criticized for walking too fast. he'll get criticized for anything, because of how he acts outside the ring to you people, so you find ways to bash his legacy and more, so don't give me this bullshit excuse.

well I agee with Gatti, but I'm not sure Mayweather would have had a harder time with Margarito. He probably would since Baldomir was a walk in the park for him, but Baldomir was decent.
Stil I think Margarito would have been crushed by Mayweather, but he probably would have been more active then Baldomir.

I have never said that Floyd ducked anyone. But for anyone to say that Gatti was not a much easier choice at 140 than Tszyu and that Baldomir was not a much easier choice at 147 than Margarito, well that's just........

Or was it that Tszyu was trounced by Hatton before the fight could take place.
Tszyu was hardly "trounced" by Hatton, he was down by one point on one scorecard and 3 on another after 11. The fight could have easily taken place, but then again Gatti was much easier pickings for a 140 lb title for Floyd to win. Had Kostya beaten Hatton, he'd have been 38 when the May/Hatton fight took place, and wouldn't have stood much of a chance against Floyd.
A prime kostya would have a great chance to beat floyd! he is to this day one of the p4p hardest rh punchers ever imho! he had great timing, and was a decent boxer when he needed to be. he was a total monster at 40. floyd would have had his work cut out for him , and i think kostya would been by far his toughest fight!
I think Tszyu had the absolute perfect style to beat Mayweather. He was great from range and he dominated every slick boxer he faced. I would have loved to see the fight, but I think Mayweather saw how tough of a fight this would be and that's why he never really pursued it.
Or was it that Tszyu was trounced by Hatton before the fight could take place.
Who the fuck cares who fouled? It's over. Move the fuck on.
Anyway, yes he would have been. He was a powerful, naturally stronger guy then Mayweather and was very accurate. he had a good style, in terms of how it matches up with Mayweather. Nonetheless, I think Mayweather beats him with movement and better combinations. He's a better in fighter, in my personal opinion. He'd also pot-shot when needed. He'd do what Judah did, except the get sloppy/knocked out part.
Wouldn't be surprised Tszyu won, though. Close call.
Finally someone actually looked at the topic of the post. Appreciate the response and I'd tend to agree with you're take.
.........
I think both Hatton and PBF didn't fight the cleanest of fights, but I will say that point deduction was bullshit. Since Hatton got KTFO though it didn't come into play.

someone show him the picture of mayweather using his elbows.
He was doing it to block, and to push off, giving enough space to land the counter. You are not going to push off with your gloved/hand since you cannot block at the same time.
They both failed. Hatton was the first to hit behind the head and hold and hit...Floyd followed.
