Ok I posted a similar poll yesterday but some of the posts on that thread and some of the numbers in the poll raised another question in my mind. So the difference in this poll is that I'm gonna remove berto, marquez, pacquiao and mosley cuz they got minimal votes and add clottey, cintron, de la hoya and judah. yesterday I didn't include fighters that he had already fought so, today I added 2 fighters who faired best against him. I know some ppl are gonna say castillo should be on this list cuz he out boxed him in the first match but, castillo lost the rematch decisivley and mayweather was injured in the first fight(I believe him).
Yall giving Paul Williams too much credit. I just don't see what yall see in Williams vs. PBF. I think Williams is a good fighter but his flaws can be easily capitalized on. In a fight with PBF, Williams' punch out put is going to drop because he is going to have to be more selective about the punches he throws. That pawing bullshit ass jab he throws is going to have to be more authoritative for it to even matter in the fight. Williams has never even fought a elite or borderline elite fighter.
I chose Vernon Forrest, cause of his height, power and boxing technical boxing ability. He is really good from the outside and has a good jab with a great straight right.i have to agree with you. bigger, stronger, longer, he's a good boxer with a good jab and the straight right that gives slick fighters like floyd problems
People always post the same complete bullshit about who PBF supposedly ducked. Vernon Forrest is the only person on that list with a good chance. Cotto can't do it he just isn't good enough. Just like Hatton vs PBF isn't a good comparison for how Cotto vs. PBF would look. Mosley vs. Cotto is a even worse comparison for how PBF vs. Cotto would look.
Wow i dont know why people keep insisting that Cotto is the same of Hatton. To beat mosley you need more than what hatton bring to the table to beat sugar. Hatton is only a power puncher besides Cotto that has a jab, can box going afterwards, can box in circles. What Cotto do with mosley you never has see it in hatton carrer. Also Cotto hits harder its bigger its more inteligent and also he has shown that he can adapt to the circumstances in the middle of a fight. Well for those that said that cotto is a robot like hatton ask what have to said three stylist that already are in cotto resume like malinaggi, judah, mosley. I still bet my money with mosley in a fight with DLH right know so if cotto beat a guy that has owned DLH twice and maywether get a split decition of the guy that has loss twice to the same guy that cotto beat yeah i like the chances of cotto. Beat the same guy that floyd for years has been scared of and that why he always have ducked mosley. I hope that maywether never try to fight mosley later in 1 or 2 years bacause if foyd fans said already that he is an old man right know doesnt try in the future to give credits to floyd if he beats the guy. Because if Floyd doesnt fight in the very next future the guy and later fights him it would be very easy to say that he was waiting that the guy get a little bit older to eat the cherry.
I would like to see him fight cotto..He would try to come foward at PBF. But we all saw what happened to hatton when he tried that. I think it would be the same result but a good fight
You should made it so we could pick multiple options. With that said I think P. Williams and Zab both have the best shot on that list. Zab's speed matched up with Floyd's as we saw in the first fight. Unfortunately for Zab, it was never a question of talent in that fight. Say he fights the way he did the first few rounds, I think he could win a decision. I think Floyd would have trouble with P. Williams' length and being that he's southpaw.
Cotto might actually beat a stylist like Mayweather, because he'd ignore his punches and crowd him, pummel him, and get his work done. When PBF fights a presure fighter there is always a point in the fight where he would have to trade shot for shot, and true boxing fans know that he could not trade with Cotto. He was able to do this with the much smaller Hatton and take him out in 10, but Cotto is much bigger, hits harder and I feel could take PBF's best shots. Cotto is a smarter-than-average pressure fighter, with power in both hands, and can wear an opponent down with crippling bodyshots. Against guys who can't hurt him, he'll walk right in and bang away with good results. Cotto's left jab is rapidly becoming a major part of his arsenal also (see Mosley Fight) The power jab he shotgunned into Mosley's face will serve him well.
Damn, I was trying to pick three people, Cotto, Williams, and Margarito
cotto, williams is somewhat understandable but margarito? no way margarito has a chance against mayweather. marg has lost to some bums over his career, mayweather is no bum.
- I'll vote Paul Williams
williams is good but I think mayweather could handle him especially after watching the hatton fight. to fight a tall fighter you gotta fight on hte inside and mayweather out did hatton on the inside and thats hatton's speciality. He will out class williams for sure.
I would say Zab Judah but he's so mentally weak that he's gonna break down in late rounds and allow Mayweather to take over and stop him.
Shane Mosley - Too old
Cotto - See Hatton
Paul Williams would give Mayweather a tough fight, but I'm sure he could beat Williams.
williams would present a problem due to his physique but I get the feeling Mayweather would figure out a way to beat him, I think Cotto has the best chance, and I base this off his last 4 fights; Mosley, Judah, Quintana, Maliganni.
