Will Hopkins-Calzaghe Be Like Floyd-Hatton?

Calzaghe will win and all the haters will say BHop was too old.

i wouldnt really call that toe to toe... but anyway, Calzaghe is a much different fighter then Hatton. He's very awkward, fast, and throws more punches. Calzaghe is one of those guys you really cant look good against. He makes his opposition look dumb. He's on another level then Hatton. Calzaghe wins by a UD. Hopkins is still fairly crafty and awkward himself, should be a great fight.

If this fight happens it will be Hopkins who plays counter puncher as he did with Tarver. If Calzaghe isn't intimidated he can win and should win, but he looks like he could be intimidated but then again once the fight starts its a differnt story. This fight should have happend a long time ago and i belive Hopkins can still win, but Calzaghe should win since he's the fresher fighter.

There is no way Calzaghe loses this fight, He has too much speed, Ring smarts and experience to be beaten by B-Hop.

The thing is Calzaghe can switch style midway through a round and completely bemuse the opponant. I just think he has that bit to much for Hopkins and will run rings around him.

If Calzaghe wins he gets all the credit in the world from me. I'm tired of Hopkins having that built in excuse for the past 5 years now. He's shown he's capable so Calzaghe winning means plenty. true but the reality is that one day he truly simply wont have "it" anymore. As I said though, Calzaghe is no spring chicken either so he might go before Hopkins does. To be fair though, I do think Hopkins has shown more signs of slowing down then Calzaghe. Calzaghe is still rather close to his prime while Hopkins is clearly not that same guy who beat Tito. Really though, its all in the eye of the beholder. I personally thought Shane looked really old or weird against Cotto but most thought he looked the same as he had in his last few fights and Cotto just took it to him

Calzaghe will get no credit for this win other than the big payday. If he wins everyone will say he beat a senior citizen. I think Hop is very game and this fight won't be as lopsided as some think.

Naw, I don't think so. Bernard's 42 years old and he is fighting a fighter who is more skillful than Hatton. I'm picking Calzaghe to win this one by UD. The only difference is is that Bernard is no ordinary 42 (43 at the time of the fight) year old man. His work out routine alone is enough to cripple an average 25 year old.

I dont know but I have a feeling that Calzaghe could lose just like Hatton. Obviously its 2 total different fights in every sense but I could see Calzaghe being labled as a great fighter with some very good wins and then coming over here to lose against the true worlds best in undeniable fashion. It just seems weird how Calzaghe called Floyd names and said that he would run from Hatton. Then Calzaghe comes over and watches Floyd kill Hatton while standing toe to toe. I think they may have gotten in Calzaghe's head a little. I think he may realize that Lacy & Kessler are solid but there not Hopkins just like Hatton found out that Tsyzu & Castillo are solid but there not Floyd Obviously Calzaghe hasn't tested himself where the true champions dwell, so we'll have to see how he handles the pressure.:) There's only ooooooone Calslappy!

Love is blind... I'm not built like the rest. I don't abandon my favorites when their backs are against a wall, even if I believe their opponet will most likely beat them. Bernard is the real deal and I have to believe he's got one last masterful performance left.

There is no denying that but I think most US fans see Calzaghe as a guy who is a good but not great fighter and Hopkins is the guy who has the best chance of beating him out of all the guys he wants to fight. I think most US fans might even rather see Calzaghe fight RJ or Dawson but Calzahge doesnt want them. Therefore out of X, Winky, or Pavlik, they think X has the best shot because the other guys are probally too small even though Pavlik seems to be the more age appropiate guy. Still, Joe is no spring chicken himself so you cant make age the whole story
