no, his resume is built over:
-trinidad who was not only killing himself to make 147 for awhile, but dominated joppy, the #2 middleweight in the world.
-glen johnson, who went on to became the ring champ @ 175
-crackhead tarver, the ring champ @ 175
-william joppy, howard eastman, top 5 middleweight contenders
-oscar de la fishnet, who really shouldn't have been @ middleweight.
Of course. And agreed on all points.
his best opponent: only a undefeated unified supermiddlweight champion and what was "a small tyson" until calzaghe ruined him
as opposed to hopkins: two WELTERWEIGHT / super WELTERWEIGHT champions - unless of course your referring to the one puch career of antionio tarver as being better opposition
Hopkins resume is all built around wins on 2 Welterweights, says it all really doesn't it.

Winky wasn't a natural 147 pounder, dummy.
Give him a break, he thinks Reid beat Calzaghe as well .. despite Reid saying post-fight that Calzaghe won.
I reckon this fight would have been great 6 years ago if Borenard hasn't ducked him.
Hopkins- Natural 175 pounder
Winky- Natural 147 pounder
I would say if someone outweighs me by TWO STONE they kind of have the adavantage.

Had Winky ever fought above 160? Did Winky have the 20 months or so that Hopkins did to grow back into LHW? Did Hopkins still need to head butt and foul his way to a win?
How many fights did Hopkins have a light heavyweight? Let the excuses continue...
Hopkins started his career at 175, but since he lost his first fight, he realized that he would have to starve his way down to 160 and fight smaller guys to have any chance in this sport.
He has good discipline and watches what he eats and trains hard.
it's not like he had serious trouble making 160....he weighed 156 for a fight as late as September 2004.
A guy like Castillo never weighed 131 for a lightweight title fight or Tito weighing 143 for a title fight @ welterweight. They were much more "oversized" for their divisions than Hopkins was IMO at middle, even if they started lower.
Hopkins fought at 160 his whole career.

Who cares, Winky went up to 175 by choice, he wanted to fight Hop at 175.

a razor thin win by the way, i thought winky won 8 or 7 rounds.....but bernard was much more flashy.......

Total horseshit. Winky could not make 147 now if he amputated a leg.
Let the excuses flow.

You have to really look at the quality of southpaws he was facing though, can you really say any of them were of Joe Calzaghe quality?
Before anyone hits me with Winky Wright, Winky was at a major disadvantage before he entered the ring, for the purpose of this comparison he doesnt count.
Possible but I wouldn't say that Winky was at a severe disadvantage because he's a big guy.

Do tell? How was Winky so severely disadvantaged? This ought to be entertaining.
Veit was undefeated when he met Joe (both were 30-0) and Reid was a WBC champion, and most importantly they were the same size as Joe, which I think is the whole point of that comparison, to point out Bernard has beaten smaller opponents in his most impressive fights, and lost to people the same size as him.
I'm not happy about Reid being in Calzaghes best wins though, Reid beat him....and it hurts to say that, I like Joe and cant stand Reid, but its the truth.
Veit was his size but had a relatively unknown resume. Being undefeated means nothing in this sport; It's who you fight that counts. Reid is a larger self-ownage, though. LOL...
Before Mayweather, Hatton hadn't fought anyone. Unless you count a Castillo there for a paycheck as an opponent.
He fought Zoo... And with that, I have a little rant.
How is it that the Hatton win over Kostya Tzsyu is continuously brought up by Hatton's fans, when he won that fight in the dirtiest fashion? The same way that the Hattonites complained about the Mayweather reffing-- wait, not the same way. Cortez didn't allow dirty punches to be landed. He even warned Floyd for the elbows. But in the Hatton-Zoo fight, we see complete bias for Hatton- yet all of you seem to now acknowledge that? Explain yourselves..
