Come on guys lets get realistic. He landed one good shot in the first round and you can argue he won 2 rounds but he got knocked down after throwing the same sort of wide shot that Floyd was taking the piss out of in 24/7. His footwork on the night was terrible, he was getting beat on the inside and he tired early. He didnt do anywhere near as good as Judah and yet he is getting so much credit for his performance.
Hatton came in with one game plan, which was to make it as ugly a fight as he could. When that plan begot no great benefit, Hatton didn't have any other plan to effectively wear down Mayweather so he got wild. Hatton is too one-dimensional for a Floyd Mayweather.
#1 I doubt that those guys dealt with 6 inch reach disadvantages.
#2 I said he does not have the reach to beat FLOYD. This is a guy who you need many physical advantages to beat.
Marciano had a 68 inch reach.
Tyson had a 71, according to http://www.ibhof.com/ibhftape.htm.
Tyson gave up more tha 6 inches in reach in many of his fights, let alone height and weight.
This is a guy who you need many physical advantages to beat.
Physical and technical.
No shame in losing to Floyd, he is a Great fighter.
anyway there are many fighters who fight other bigger than him. If there got and L could the erase it just because they are smaller and had a disadvantage?

Talent can make up for "size." I cannot believe Hatton or any of the Hattonites brought that in, involving this fight and why he lost. Floyd was a lightweight that bulked up, who weighs 147 by fight time, although I'm not sure about the last time out.
Tyson made up for his size with great ability and teaching. Even Tyson's says he had unfair advantage because he was taught by Cus D'amato.
I wonder if Hatton could have been better if he started with someone like Rooney.
Maybe, maybe not.
Mike Tyson On how Cus D’amato helped him:
“People think I was born this way. They don’t know what it took to get this way. The training, when you have to do things over and over again until you’re sore. Deep in your mind you say, God, I don’t want to do this no more, and then you push. I always used to think I was a coward because of the way I felt. Cus was there when I needed him…he was the one. Cus would always explain you should always do things to build your character and make you a better individual. He was different than anyone I’d ever met, because principle meant more than anything to him, more than money, more than health, more than his life. He would sacrifice anything for principle, for what he believed was right.”
Cus always strived. He said:"You can be the champ". Even at a young age. And I believed in him. I developed that kind of confidence in him. And we just made it "That was the destiny". No matter whatever happen. And he discussed times that he wasn't feeling well and that he doesn't think he would be around, but he said "No matter what...the job must go on".
“I did boxing only because my step father was in love with it. He wanted me to become a champion so I couldn’t disappoint him.

I thought he did a pretty good job. Better than some people thought he would for the first half of the fight.
I was expecting more from him considering the way he was training in 24/7 with the body bag and so on and the way he was talking about the fight.
But overall I was pretty satisfied with his performance.
anyway there are many fighters who fight other bigger than him. If there got and L could the erase it just because they are smaller and had a disadvantage?
Tyson also had a great trainer and physical gifts that made up for his size disadvantage.
he would have done better if the ref wasnt biased against him, but the fact is that Floyd could have had the KO in any round and Hatton just doesnt have the reach to outbox floyd.

If you are disputing my claim that rounds 8/9 would be "at times gatti-esque", then you didn't see the beating that hatton took in round 8. The ref and ring doctor went to look in on him in the corner.
It was nothing like the Gatti fight and it is fairly obvious what I am disputing but if you want me to nit pick then tell me how Hatton's face was a mess?
The answer is it wasn't and whenever you feel like trying to justify your insane comment that Hatton is on the same level as Corley then get back to me but until then keep in touch with yourself.
Night night.
I'll be glad to post my prediction again if you are disputing what my claim was:
Thanks for that but I think from reading my post it was pretty obvious what I was disputing and if you're looking for plaudits for nearly getting your prediction right then have a pat on the back from me.
In all fairness, you said it was nonsense when I told you that Hatton's corner would throw in the towel in the tenth round. Agreed?
How'd that one work out?
About as well as your claim that it would be Gattiesque and your subsequent claim that Hatton is on a par with guys like Corley.
lyrical, do us a favor and stfu and stop taking away from hatton he fought a great fight win or lose and most everyone on here can agree with that.
I can agree with that. Hatton did his best; he came in shape, came to fight, fought until the end, went out on his shield, and gave the fans their money's worth.
People can say what they want, have a little fun/a bit of teasing, but at the end of the day, Ricky is a fighter, a Champion, and that deserves some respect.
How so?? Because I said that hatton would get Ko'd in six?
Let me break in down for you:
Hatton can't take Floyd's punches. Floyd can take Hatton's punches (if such a thing ever had a chance of cleanly landing). Floyd can come in with a different plan. Hatton has no other plan/options. Floyd will still be faster, stronger, and more skilled. Floyd has Hatton figured out. He can just come out offensive and aggressive and land hard shots. Earlier.
I called the first fight exactly as it went. The rematch would be a terrible beating/blowout.
This is just nonsense. I can't be bothered dissecting it.
Actually he didn't do much in the way of actual fighting. Hatton accomplished making it a ugly fight. What I don't think Hatton counted on was how well PBF gave him the rough house stuff right back. All that mauling and rough house shit actually played a part in making Hatton tired besides the body and head shot that PBF was landing. That rough house shit is different when somebody is will to give it right back to you. I told people your stamina is different when you get hit more than you have ever been hit in your life. Hatton made the fight ugly but he didn't land any significant punches.
People overrating Judah's performance. Judah won 3 rounds and was on his way to being KO'ed until the low blow and rabbit punch shit.
Damn that shows how really great PBF is when its such an accomplishment for Judah to have won 3 rounds possibly 4 against PBF.
Does anybdy have the official scorecards of the Judah-PBF fight?
Hatton's key mistake was forgetting that Floyd is a FIGHTER, and he wouldn't mind getting his hands dirty in te ring.
What the posters are pointing out (in favor of Mayweather) is what Teddy Atlas pointed out afterwards, it really wasn't that close...Floyd was in control and everything was working accordingly to his game-plan.
That's why I brought up Hannibal vs. the Romans in a previous post: Battle of Cannae.
I win because I'm immune to having history rewritten. The way some people are carrying on in a month's time Hatton will have suffered a ten round beatdown. I'm trying to prevent that from happening and from maintaining a bit of perspective.
It was a very close fight until round 8, when Hatton noticably started tiring. It was a good fight, and would have been a classic had Joe Cortez not intervened in the first 5 rounds. Anybody that says this fight was a Floyd blowout has got shit for brains.
Cortez SUCKS. He rode Hatton until he was wet, and then let Floyd take over. That's the truth of the matter.
Come on guys lets get realistic. I don't think It's the fact that anyone truly thinks that the fight was real close or that Hatton was a punch away from pulling off the upset It's the fact that Hatton showed so much heart(and when you show heart even In defeat your stock rises).Hatton did not get discouraged he just kept after Floyd trying to find a way to win and you have to respect him for that.
