The biggest mistake of Taylor's life was when he made a rematch clause to face Pavlik in a rematch at 166, he basically signed his own death warrant. Kelly Pavlik will be much stronger at 166 and he will have even more power...Pavlik is just a bad match up for Taylor and he will win by brutal KO again.
R.I.P. Jermain Taylor 1978-2008
I'm not going to write Taylor off just yet. He held his own with Hopkins and Wright (whether or not you think he beat Bernard both times) and almost had Pavlik out in the second. Plus for some reason the judges had him rediculously ahead (5 rounds to 1 on one scorecard) at the time of the stoppage. It's entirely possible that he uses his athleticism to outbox Pavlik this time, maybe even learn to fight on his toes a bit. It's going to be a lot harder to knock Jermain out this time and a decision will be tough. Just about a pickem in my eyes.
Very good post.
Taylor has a good chin he was hurt by Hopkins ,Winky & kTFO by Pavlik
Taylor was Boxing he had no choice but stand & fight Pavlik at times because he dont have the stamina to stay on the outside for too long ,Pavlik would have walked him down anyway & he would still have had to fight at some point cause of Pavlik workrate & willingness to walk straight to him
Pavlik is the king of fighter that will not be denied when he is the mood u need to stop him literally to win the fight otherwise he will just keep coming Boxing him aint gonna get the job done
Taylor wasnt hurt by Winky, what the fuck are you talking about?
Taylor is still a dangerous opponent, he had Pavlik badly hurt in round 2, which people seem to forget.
He has the skills and the talent, but I still expect a Pavlik win.
I expected Pavlik to batter Taylor but I didn't expect such a devestating knock out. Taylor's mental state was poor coming in and I can only imagine how it will be coming into this one. I can't see Taylor fighting any better than he did in that fight. Pavlik is the deciding factor, hopefully he'll stay focused and not come in overconfident; if he fights as well as he did in the first fight we could be looking at the same result.
I feel that because of this loss, Taylor will get his hunger back. If Taylor can finish it under 6 its his fight, if it goes over 6 rounds and taylor has'nt hurt pavlik, then pavlik will win.
You guys are underestimating him now, It's funny how people jump on bandwagons, I have a thread here where I posted my favourite prospects when they weren't even top 20 contender and pavlik was one of them, pavlik does well and im sure everyone else is happy for him as well, but then people pretend like he is unbeatable. Taylor almost had him out in the 2nd round, what tells you that Taylor does'nt learn from the mistakes he made?
I hope we get us a good fight. Both of them are my favourite fighters in the middleweight division.
dammit parody i stole your tar, now i gotta find a new one!
pavlik is going to stop taylor again.
taylor's footwork is ass and he always ends up on the ropes. pavlik is a killer on the ropes. pavlik landed jab and straight right hand again and again and i don't see taylor being able to made adjustments to stop them.

i think Taylor is going to win. When he is against the ropes, a bell in his head seems to go off. He fights back, fights harder. If anything Jermain Taylor is, metaphorically speaking, against the ropes. The other reason that Taylor will win is because let me remind you, before Pavlik caught him offgaurd with a LUCKY PUNCH, Taylor was up on the scorecards.
There's no such thing as a lucky punch in boxing.
i hope your right wlad.
taylor was drawn into going toe to toe with pavlik and lost. even tho he came so, so close to stopping pavlik early. neither showed any defense.
but feel that with his dad training him now he might start listening to his corner. and even tho taylors a dimwit. he has better boxingskills and defense and expierience than pavlik.
i dont think this rematch is going to be about power. both have good chins. its going to be about defense and boxing skills.

Jermain Taylor is like Chris Eubank in terms of he does'nt like to work at a pace he likes to be the one controlling the action & when he gets backed up & made to fight or work at someone elses pace he looks unconfortable, IMO he has poor stamina aswell he was holding Pavlik for the next 2 rounds after his barrage failed to finish Pavlik off & i thought him gettting tagged late on that led to the KO was due to his fatigue his hands dropped and his reactions slowed down & the punches he was slipping ealier in the fight were landing flush due to tiredness
Pavlik was in the same fight & he didnt look as tired as Taylor did & i dare say Pavlik was throwing a hell of a lot of big punches that were missing & he still looked the fresher of the 2
The odds are stacked against Taylor, no Steward, no momentum, and that knockout lingering in his mind. The sign of a true champion is how they react to defeat, let's see how Taylor will react.
I think Pavlik will win again. There's no way he'll let Taylor take his belt back. Not after the resounding celebration he recieved from his people when he went back. He won't let them down. He'll always have that in the back of his mind during the fight. It would be a disgrace after all that to lose it. He'll go for broke if need be before he lets it fall into the judges hands. Plus with the extra weight, I think Pavlik's missles are gonna be felt even more earlier on. Not good at all for Jermain.
Taylor won't get any belts back, they're fighting at 166, Pavlik will retain the title regardless. The people of Youngstown will still love him if he loses, they're very humble, but passionate and supportive people.
I think waht people tend to forget is that Taylor will also be stronger at 166.True, but so will Pavlik. Which means maybe this time Taylor will keep his damn hands up and win the match.

If Taylor's lips could reach around to his own behind he would be wise to start kissing. (he can kiss his *** goodbye). Pavlik will beat him again and this time it might even be easier. Whoever wins named Pavlik should possibly think of taking a fight or two then going for Calzaghe.
You have to lose to win sometimes. Taylor will have to rid of Kelly early. He expended ALOT of energy trying to finish Kelly early. I mean he could've, but didn't do enough to force a stoppage.
The outcome im not to sure, but Taylor knows that he can be knocked down. Its going to be interesting.
