When Hatton went over to hug Barrera during the weigh in, they looked like there were in the same division... Hatton should move down a div... Boxing is on the up and up though... Couple of draws now... Floyd is a legitimate draw now after his performance againts Hatton though DLH was boring, Mayweather gave me goose bumps againts Hatton.. You can't deny Floyd's artistry in the ring but you need the Ricky Hattons to bring out the potential of Floyd and make it exciting... A couple of more fights like that from Floyd would make people forget how much of an ass he is...We got Pacquiaos, Calzaghes, DLHs, Floyds, Cottos, Hattons, soon Pavliks, Juan Diaz' that are or have the ability to fill out seats and sell PPVs. With Floyd All he gotta do is back his mouth up and entertain boxing fans. Thats all we really wanted outa Floyd... Hatton was a good style match up but still a safe fight for Floyd... Screw Margarito, Williams, Oscar, etc... Bring on Cotto or Mosely... undersized Hatton and a boring fight againts an aged DLH a are not going to satisfy the hot air comming from his mouth. He was entertaining againts Hatton and showed why he is #1 but there are bigger and badder than Hatton that being Mosely and Cotto... Gotta give props to Floyd for putting on an exhibition againts againts a top fighter.
no excuses at all dios.
my opinion of the fight, Ricky was tactically naieve. Floyd got it bang on, kick up a fuss about Ricky hugging and then hug himself. If the ref didnt stop Ricky working on the inside Floyd did it. That tired Ricky out. once Rickys pace dropped off and he started lunging in, Floyd picked him off superbly. Floyds tactics and planning for this fight were absolutely superb and Ricky can only have himself to blame for getting beat in the manner he did.
He believed all the shit people were telling him, he let Floyd get in his head and he lost his head in the ring.
No excuses what so ever
But I do think if they were to have a rematch in 6 months time, Ricky would not get ko'ed and the outcome would be a lot closer
Never happen in a million years. Floyd could not contain his laughter when asked if he would rematch Hatton.
WHERE WERE ALL THESE EXCUSES BEFORE THE FIGHT?

I'm pretty sure I said all of them like 1000 times...I agree though, all of a sudden everyone notices the huge reach disadvantage that I was whining about since day one :puppy_dog
I think however, that we can all agree that the biggest disadvantage ultimately, was in talent.:)

You must not be paying attention..
Hatton weighed 151 for his last fight while Floyd weighed 148.
DID YOU GET THAT?
ok
A reach advantage does not constitute size and neither does height. A Giiraffe is taller than an elephant, but which is bigger?
You can't walk around at 170 while claiming that you're smaller than someone who walks around at one forty something. Mayweather spent most of his career at a lighter weight class than Hatton. On fight night, surely Mayweather didn't hydrate as much as Hatton did and was surely the lighter man. You have no evidence that Hatton is naturally smaller or was smaller on fight night, so why not apply some logic instead of automatically assuming that your flawed position is the right one..
are u daft? u really must be
Floyd was 2 inches taller than ricky, that is a disadvantage to Ricky in a boxing match
Floyd had a 7 inch reach advantage over Ricky, that is really bad disadvantage to have in a boxing match
Floyd was heavier at the weigh in than Ricky
I'm not mithered about Rickys fight with castillo or Floyds fight with dlh. They have nothing to do with this fight. Neither does what weight ricky swans about at between fights. Even if ricky is a lot fatter when hes not training, that was the biggest disadvantage he faced, floyds super fit, Rickys not
Please explain to me why u are arguing, I've already stated Floyd was great and won fair and square yet u keep babbling on about things that had nothing to do with this fight
If it makes u feel better, Ricky was huge compared to Floyd
look fella, not being funny, but Floyd was bigger than Ricky in every aspect in this fight, every single one. Ricky had a weight, height and reach disadvantage.
Theres no arguing these facts, Floyds 2 inches taller, 7 inch reach advantage and at the weigh in Ricky was 2lbs lighter. You can not argue about that
I will say it again though, Floyd was utterly superb and won the fight fair and square. Its not Floyds fault ricky was smaller

Shane has a long reach.
Good example.
Shane is two inches shorter than Margarito, yet has a slightly longer reach:

You are being visually subjective and there was a lot wrong with how you worded that since Ricky isn't smaller.
In his last fight he stepped in the ring at 151 against Castillo. Mayweather stepped in at 148 against DLH. How is that not stockier?
Reach has nothing to do with size because it is depended on both the individual and their ancestry, which is why many times you find shorter people with a longer reach than someone taller.
Paul Williams' reach is longer than Pavlik's.

lol I do speak proper English, there was absolutely nothing worng with what I put.
Now ricky is smaller, he was definitely not stockier than Floyd in that ring, absolutely no way on this earth was Ricky stockier than Floyd.
How on earth can reach have nothing to do with size. Floyds arms are 7inches longer than Rickys, that puts his arms at a size disadvantage.
Enough of this anyway, I just wondered how samll he was compared to other ww's.
Ricky lost this fight fair and square, no excuses

Speak proper English. He is 1 and a half inch SHORTER than Floyd (not smaller), yet stockier (bigger). Reach has nothing to do with size.

Duran was only 5'7 and he fought at Middleweight and beat the true MW champion at the time.
Hagler? He lost to Hagler on my card and the judges... close but he lost.
