Cortez: "Hatton wasn't allowed to fight his style"

These are comments from Joe Cortez to a Spanish Newspaper. “It’s only the Brits who are criticizing me” CORTEZ “The ones who have criticized me are the Brits, they are used to fighting dirty and using those tactics” CORTEZ “Maybe in Europe they allow him to do that but I don’t allow that. Its simple, I cannot allow that. No one in the United States has ever said anything like this to me. It’s only the Brits. However, we have to understand that their fighter lost and that’s why. He wasn’t allowed to fight his style” CORTEZ Regarding the point deduction of Hatton. “If he hit him hard or not, I have no Idea. It may not have been intentional, but it was a dirty blow. I had to take control from the beginning. I always tell trainee referee’s that you must take control of the fight early or you will loose control” CORTEZ When asked why he didn’t take a point from Floyd Mayweather for Elbow’s? “Mayweather wasn’t using the elbows to hit him or cause him harm, he was just defending himself” CORTEZ He already made up his mind about Hatton before the fight. He ignored Mayweather's constant use of the elbow, warned him only in the 5th round but did nothing about it when it continued for the rest of the fight. I deleted this because I thought it was too negative but i'm sorry this fight deserves this commentary The only thing that fight needed to be a 100% disgrace was Pierre Macguire spewing communist style propaganda at us the whole time. You cant just go in there throwing punches and being the better fighter and expect to win. This is the 'new boxing.' blah blah blah blah And Cortez wasn't even consistant with his nonsense. He'd let them be on the inside but only if Hatton wasn't doing good or gaining momentum, mostly after he got cut and lost some steam, but anytime he started to pick it up and take over he'd break them. Mayweather didnt' have to worry whatsoever about having the fight be his style, Cortez was like an extra guy in the ring for him. I just cant say enough about how bad this officiated was.

Only thing this fight needed to be a complete disgrace is Pierre Macguire as the the commentator sitting their spewing communist style propaganda at us the whole. 'This is the new boxing' you cant just expect their to go in throwing punches and win the fight' and other wierd nonsense.

I'm a Mayweather fan and I agree Mayweather did illegal moves but that was all in retaliation. Hatton kept on clinging on to him over and over and the ref had to break them apart. Everytime PBF moved into his confrotable range Hatton landed a big shot because of his dirty tactics. Thats why PBF said F it and F'd him up at his own game while fight dirty. I respected the fact that Mayweather did those illegal moves back to him Hatton was asking for it! Retaliation? Mayweather started fouling immediately, and in no time he was way ahead of Ricky in terms of fouls. To me, Mayweather is even greater for going out with the intent of outroughing Hatton and doing it. He reminded me of a prime Bernard Hopkins at times.

I agree, this fight is a fucking robbery. Hatton didn't have the chance to fight on the inside. All the fight was on the outside. If Cortez hadn't taken a point, it's sure that Hatton would have knock Floyd and break him 4 ribs. That was bullshit. Mayweather's a coward. Cortez fucked the fight. After filtering out the illiterate bullshit in your rant, I've come to the conclusion that you've obviously never boxed and you're probably blind as hell because anyone moron could see that the fight was mostly fought on the inside. Floyd did major damages while inside. Even Hatton mentioned that in the post fight interview.
