Ricky put up an amazing fight. I am totally proud of him.
I am amazed by his character after the fight, and the respect both fighters showed each other.
Floyd seemed to start negative in my view, and milking that points deduction, but then the difference in skill really began and Floyd was amazing.
Ricky was brilliant though for while he was in the fight, pressuring Mayweather, as Floyd said Ricky was the toughest opposition he'd faced.
Hatton is an absolute class act.
*I see all these ruthless threads calling Hatton a bitch or whatever* That's an absolute disgrace. Both fighters gave an excellent show, and I'm proud of both of them, and their honesty afterwards. Respect both fighters. Respect their hard night.
As an American, I'm very proud of Ricky Hatton. I've always liked the kid, always admired and respected him, and find him to be as humble and classy a guy you could ever meet. I was rooting for him even after the hostile crowd booed my national anthem, but he was just outmatched, plain and simple.
My opinion of Hatton hasn't dropped one percent.
Yeh the anthem thing is just smt common with some british fans, its not to be taken too personally. It comes out from football culture, and it's just means as a competitive thing, for a pscyhological edge really. Its not saying, oh we hate you. I cringe though when I hear it happen.

I am proud of Ricky also, anybody who knows both fighters styles will admit this was the only realistic way Ricky could have won the fight. Ricky showed how proud of a fighter he was by not backing off at any point in the fight, sadly it wasn't enough to overcome a supremely skilled fighter like Floyd.
Yeah he didn't let up. He could have laid back for the last few rounds and lost by decision, but instead he went for it. That's kind of guy he is. Anybody who respects good character will respect Hatton after his post-fight interviews. This is a good guy.

Respect to both fighters, the fight didn't start out that great when it got pretty dirty but on the whole they both showed why they are the top of the food chain.
I was a little dissapointed when Hatton accused Floyd of making it a dirty fight. Has Hatton ever NOT made a fight dirty? Floyd just didnt let it happen his way.
Yeah, Ricky could have given Floyd a little more credit. Floyd fought a hell of a fight. I thought it was a little closer than the judges had it, but I would have taken a point away from Floyd for hitting Ricky in the back of the head in rd 7 or 8, and at least one for all the elbows to the throat. Nice flop job through the ropes, but Ricky shouldn't have tried to hit him in the back of head.
Ricky made it competitive through 6, good fight.
Hatton was working him for most of the first half IMO. At times it he was even winning clearly.
The KO was amazing though. Floyd does'nt even have that kinda 1 punch power but he just fuckin caught hatton leaping in..POW.
I don't think he ever hurt someone that bad with a single shot.
Picture perfect.
hatton was never winning. he had a total of maybe 2 rounds he won.

Nah, don't think Hatton meant to accuse Floyd for fighting dirty.
Think he pointed out things Mayweather does so well that makes fighting him very difficult.

Ok, but in fairness, if you look when Ricky landed that good shot and assualt, Floyd ducked away and under the ropes, out of the ring.
That is seperate to the debate over Ricky's point deduction. The fact is Floyd ducked away and out of rope deliberate, and he hung over the ropes to enforce a points deduction, despite the fact the punch hit the ropes, not him.
Yeah Floyd was smart, real smart. He knew just what to do.

I was really rooting for Hatton, but he really brought nothing to the fight to beat Floyd.
Really disappointed in him to be honest.
I thought he gave Floyd something different, something he hadn't felt in a long time. Hatton was relentless, swarming on him. But he didn't have the accuracy to contact, and that was down to Floyd's skill.
I dunno man, I just feel really sorry for him.
Hatton really is a great guy. He took his loss like a true man. Yet all these american fukkers wanna spit on his name.
Well lets see if any of em could go 10 rounds with Mayweather.
Makes me sick.
Exactly. Hatton is a credit to the sport.
