How about Tua fight Mesi and we'll see from there. It would be enertaining even both are old ass dudes, I think Mesi could get a decision if he stays about from those power body shots of Tua and just jabs Tuaman to death.
David needs to improve greatly if he is to become a serious threat once again in the division. Even if he could turn back the clock to the 2002 version he'd be very dangerous indeed.
Not to be a jerk, but Tua knocked out a fairly shot Moorer five years ago, and he knocked out the Quiet Man like a 100 years ago. Not sure if your Samoan or what, but it seems borderline delusional to think that Tua could become champion based on those credentials. I weigh about 175lbs and I believe that I could have starched Michael Moorer five years ago. Of course, the heavyweight division being what it continues to be, maybe you're right.
he knocked out ruiz before ruiz adopted the jab and grab style and moorer was damaged goods and had a suspect chin even before hand
Gee, he didn't dominate an ATG 7 inches taller than him, what a bum.
no,,,he didnt fight an ATG 7 inches taller than him. he simply went through the motions and did what he could to avoid getting knocked out
And I apologize for being a bit of a prick.
Not at all. To be honest, Moorer would have probably landed his right hook before I could have taken him out with my right cross. :boxing:
Difference being Tyson is MUCH older, looked like crap in his last fights, the most recent of which was years ago.
Tua has had 7 fights since March 2005, has gone 10 rounds twice, and won them all. I can't say his opposition has been very impressive, and his comeback is still a pretty big longshot. But it is possible.
Yeah, good for him if he can do it. I won't be rooting for him unless he really does start fighting like the old Tua (mid-90's version), because he honestly bores me to tears. There is one fighter who could definitely put me into a coma; not from a punch, but rather his lack of punching.
I believe he can make a great come back and win a world title.
First of all i want him to fight early next year against an Top20 opponent. Then we will see what hes capable of. He had a good run his last fights, was verry active but now hes getting inactive again.
As I conceded before, given the state of the heavyweight division, you may be right (not about the Moorer part though). I just think that your argument could be better supported by mentioning Tua's more recent performances (I haven't personally seen his fights this year). I suppose that I could be inspired to declare that "Iron" Mike could make another comeback and win a title based on the fact that he owned Spinks in 91 seconds back in '88, but I believe that most people not from Brownsville would scoff at the notion.

Trust me, Michael Moorer then, and Michael Moorer today, would put you in a coma. So you think an older Shannon Briggs is better than Tua?

I've been thinking the same thing for the past few weeks after looking back at the way he destroyed Ruiz and Moorer, in 19 and 21 sec... ...The power is still there, I think he's still a dangerous opponent to anyone.

Rumour has it, that Tua is in talks with a possible February bout with up-and-coming hw prospect Chris Arreola. If Tua can get the win, he may be able to get in line for a shot b/c of ranking and name recognition. Best case scenario would be a Peter-Tua matchup...
I dont. you need to be able to throw more than 10 punches per round. he's so slow and one dimensional its sickening. I lost all respect for him in the lewis fight when he simply fought not to get knocked out instead of fighting to win. half the reason he's never been dropped is because he takes no chances and is too damn conservative

guys he knocked the fuck out in seconds became fucking champs !!! give him someone like lamon ,....
TUA > TYSON for me anyday !
he alreay wimped out of a fight with brewster. that should tell you something
I believe he can make a great come back and win a world title.

The reason why I want Tua to come back is because of his aggressive style and the fact that he's a huge puncher. He comes to fight and you know every punch could be a KO punch. Tua brings excitement to a division I'm not really a big fan of right now.
++ Sadly, Mr. Tua has not bothered to train since 1995-6...

Yet he's won three fights this year, 2 by knockout. Meaning he went the distance once this year and won.
