hahaha oh shit, I got confused. I thought Detroit was in another state. Thanks for reminding me. :lol1:
Oh buddy, I get more confused anymore than almost anybody. I was saying the other day that I knew for a fact that Knoxville was in Kentucky. It's in Tennessee, if I even spelled that right. About the only thing I know a little of is the older fighters.
I always wished I was smarter...
he was in michigan for awhile if i'm not mistaken. he didn't predominately train and fight there, but still...i'm going to claim him.:sombrero:
"Dave Clark, once the No. 1 light-heavyweight contender and a Joe Louis stablemate in the late 1930's, remembers when the 8-year-old boy named Walker Smith was brought to the Brewster Gym in Detroit by a trainer named Wesley Davis. ''I don't think Ray ever put the gloves on or even considered being a fighter then,'' the 72-year-old Clark told a visitor to the famed Kronk Gym in Detroit last Thursday. ''He was just a kid in a gym.''
Clark feels boxing really came into Robinson's life when the boy moved to New York, which Clark insists was at the age of 9, not 12 or 13 as most reports have it."

The best fighters have lived, are born, or train in Michigan at some point or another. Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, Tommy Hearns, James Toney, Stanley Ketchel, Floyd Mayweather and all of the other great Kronk champions.
Doesn't get better than that^
