If you lose, you've clearly lost a step, or there is SOMEONE who's better than you. And until you prove otherwise, you're not at the top anymore. If you are p4p, it means you're the best. If you get beaten, and it's THAT recent, clearly, SOMEONE is better than you. Atleast on record. Therefore, he's be knocked down. The reason that Hatton wouldn't replace him is due to accomplishments and overall lack of an argument.

Essentially, in big fights, Manny has lost ONE, and the rest, he's basically won lop-sided fights or KOd legends. That's still better than Calzaghe. I'm a Calzaghe fan, but he's had a hot year. Good for him. He's had a decent legacy aswell. However, overall,, Manny has the better opposition coming up and has beaten the better guys. It's not a title, it's a status. A status that you don't just get to trade back and forth. It should be looked at as a lot more sturdy than that.

I hope Mayweather loses so Pacquiao-Marquez 2 would get a lot more deserved attention Ironically, Hatton keeps implying that he's fighting Floyd for the p4p title, when at most, he'd be bumped up to #3. Thankfully we don't have to worry about that since when he loses, he'll be in the teens somewhere next to Cory Spinks.

This would be the second time that The Ring's #1 and #2 squared off (the first was obviously #1 Chavez vs. #2 Whitaker). It depends on how low they move Mayweather down though. It might be just me, but I don't think Marquez is all that close to Mayweather, and I wouldn't be shocked if Floyd only goes down to #2, especially if it is a close decision loss.

Whitaker and Chavez was the last time two p4p 1 and 2 fighters faced off. 2 and 3 facing off isn't pretty bad as well.

this is the issue that i have. its ovbious that Marquez is the better boxer, but Pac can knock anyone the fuck out, thus defeating them. who really would be the higher rated fighter?
