their were a string of fights in Mayweather's career where he broke his hand..castillo (he did alot of moving because of the hands) chavez sosa castillo II and about 2 other fights before he had the hand procedure.
I know boxing, and I know running..boxing/running is when a fighter turns his back to another fighter and runs away, Mayweather never does that, does he suppose too take 4 shots to land one like Julio Chavez? which is stupid.
So my question is what fighters did Mayweather run in and give me an example of what he did? Because I've never seen him run..the people who said he ran against Baldomir, obviously just dislike Mayweather because he didn't run, neither did he run against De La Hoya, how is leaning on the ropes running?
Calzaghe takes way, way more risks than Mayweather. Having said that, Calzaghe is fighting at his natural weight and the weight he has fought at throughout his career.
As a Calzaghe fan well said...Calzaghe only fought at his comfortable weight and so its easier for him to take riskes..If mayweather was still fighting in 130 or 135 i have no doubt he would take more risk than his last 2 fights.
In the Jesus chavez and Emmauel Augustus fights Mayweather took so many risk because he knows he cant be hurt..Taking risk at a higher weight would just be stupid.
are rjj and joe calzaghe runners aswell? afterall they rarely 'engage'. they are however superb boxers, isnt that what this sport is all about and not standing head to head trading shots?

I don't think that's what people mean when they say Floyd "runs". I think what is being referred to is when Floyd stays away from his opponent and refuses to engage. ....NOW under this understanding of the term "run", go back and look at his fights for the examples.

Umm why would floyd engage with Baldi when his right hand was hurting and a fight with ODH was on the line.
ODH was a giant compared to Floyd man..cmon.
Bottom Line..Floyd NEVER ran from anyone.
Now what Cotto did with Mosley is running.
What ODH did with Tito is running.
That is why I said it was with good reason he did not want to engage. And please, no revisionism, what Cotto did is no different to what Mayweather did in the aforementioned fights.
Yeah screw the fans that paid good money to see him live and PPV, have to worry about the future hype job fight with a has been.
yo you a true hater.. you have no rationale dogz, it's sad.. not everybody is going to be Julio Cesar Chavez yo getting into wars in the ring just because YOU want that, if thats how you feel don't order the fight, plain and simple, if YOU order it don't sit there and bash Floyd for doing what he has to do to win, he's a BOXER, do you know what a BOXER is? it certainly isn't a fighter, fans of Boxing watch Floyd because they know they going to see a technical showcase, fans of fighting bought Mayorga-Vargas because they were going to FIGHT.. you have no one else to blame if YOU order a fight and spend your dollars on someone who you KNOW Boxes, no one else to blame but YOURSELF// don't watch anymore of his fights then..
Floyd doesn't run.. period. he just doesn't fight the way many of you guys here may want him to, he isn't explosive but you know what? he's a percentage fighter and percentage fighters know how to adjust and bring just enough to the table to win.. 100
Oh yea sure..risk a hand injury and ruining a career changing fight with ODH so you can brawl with Carlos Baldmir..Yeah that makes real good sense.

How pathetic. You are making excuses for Mayweather.
Do you shine his shoes, too?
but where could he run? He got the sqaure ring and he cant go out of the ring could he?
He is moving around mostly and using his speed and agility over his oppenet.
It tell a someone who has a punching power why he uses his power. Why do big guy like to stay in the lowerweightclass?

well Dino sometimes if you hate someone too much you have to critise his boxing.
If it was there fav boxer they would make a thread " blah blah took him to school." and " He boxed his ears off."
and at Oscar fight he did stand toe2toe but it was not consistant imagine fighting a guy bigger than you you would try to outmuscle him it too dumb to do that.
Demarcus Corley. I remember him. He is the guy that Ricky Hatton and Frank Warren avoided for two years when Hatton was the #1 mandatory for Corley's WBO title. I remember because Hatton fought several D-class fighters during that two year period.
Ricky and his camp have openly admitted that they don't do well against soutpaws. And Corley was/is one akward southpaw.
Just 4 less than DeMarcus Corley.

Okay I'll take you're word on it I haven't watched a whole lot of him so i'm sure you know better then I do.
No doubt he had a lot of speed and was a good boxer though i just never got into most of the fights of his that i've seen.
Yeah, he can turn alot of people off with his style. But I personally find that m favorite boxers are the guys with the best technical skills.
Running means moving away from your opponent and boxing on the back foot. It obviously does not mean running as in a track meet.okay, that's not what i was intending to get across to him. you claim running means moving away from your opponent and boxing on your back foot. okay then, then explain to me what defense is. because the last time i checked, boxing on your back foot is a sign of good defense. ali boxed on his backfoot and so did whitaker, and floyd does no different, so how is he a runner. i mean, th ereason whi i ask this is because many of you on here call him a runner as a negative statement. i say that he has great defense, and picks his punches wisely which is why his accuracy is always high. knowing how to position your body to get in good punches isn't running. making your opponents tire out but missing the shit out of you isn't running. timing their every move and dictating the pace of the action is not running. i know he didn't mean running as in a track meet, but he did mean running as in moving away from your opponents and not throwing punches at all. that's running. what floyd does is not try to avoid getting hit while not throwing back, he positions himself in a way to throw his opponents off as well as setting up his arsenal, which is why he has great footwork and shows great movement in his fights. is he not suppose to move around effectively especially against big guys with granite chins. floyd is smart, because he knows how weak his hands can be, so he positions himself better in a different part of thei ring so that he can throw his shots effecitvely and accurately. since when has this become running? it hasn't, all great fighters who move a lot do this, they don't run, they move effectively and their body placement is right on the money.
so again, explain to me how mayweather is a runner, because i haven't read anything from you and wiley to prove this otherwise.
so explain why floyd is a runner, because you have not effectivley done that yet, and i feel you will not do it, but nonethelss, please explain again how he is a runner.

the only fite ive ver seen a fighter turn his back and run away in was .. andre dirrel curtis stevens ..worst fight ive ever seen aired on tv ..direl ran! turned his back and ran ... floyd dont do that no one does .. floyds just alway on teh back pedal dont engage isnt a fighter hjes a boxer
If running means outlanding your opponents i need to start doing that. Just because he doesn't take uneccessary risk hes a coward. Some people doesnt understand the different types of fighting. You got the brawlers, defensive fighters, and boxers. Floyd has demonstrated to be all of these but his primary style is just boxing. It depends on the opponent to determine what type of style floyd will use. I use to be a floyd hater until i realized the way he fights. I too called him a coward but it wasnt until I started training myself to understand his style.
i dont give a shit about mayweather because he doesn't give a shit to anyone. its funny that u guys support him and all but what has he done for the fans? he says it all everytime he is interviewed, on 24/7 & during press con. all he says is he only gives a shit about money, winning and him. stop hugging his balls. he wont be remembered. nobody gives a crap about him.
Coloquially stated, but essentially correct.
