I am really hoping they let Merchant call this fight, they seem to be letting Kellerman call all the big fights lately(Calzaghe vs Kessler, Cotto vs Mosley). Kellerman is okay, but he is not in Merchant's league and he dosen't have the same delivery. Merchant>>>>>>>>>>>>Kellerman
I like it when Jim asks Larry sometimes when theres a boring matc and he goes Laryy hows the fight and then Merchant responds by saying id rather politicians on a debate better he said something like that a few times especially in the Jobnes-Hopkins fight thats the only one i remember hearing that
i dont care who likes what fighter motre i just rather have Merchant than Max. i cant stand Kellerman calling fights. i didnt even like him on ESPN. i even like Teddy Atlas and Al Bernstein over him.
you also like Lacy so i'll let this one go

you guys complain about kellerman, but larry merchant bashes mayweather so what the hell is the difference? he criticizes mayweather and calls him boring just like many of you do, so of course you would want to watch him call the match. i actually don't agree with you people who claim that kellerman loves floyd too much, he has bashed floyd also but is way more objective than merchant by a longshot. of course, he's still fairly new so we have to see him more. larry merchant is a crybaby.
It's BS is Kellerman gets to call the fight. Merchant even on an off night is better than Kellerman. It's too soon for Kellerman to be calling such big fights. He doesn't have the chemistry with Jim Lampley and his comments are sometimes painful to hear. I lost all respect for him when he bashed Arturo Gatti after his loss against Gomez, I already didn't like him before then, but that was the nail in the coffin for me.
If true I'll keep my $50 and watch the stream for free. Kellerman loves Mayweather more than Mayweather loves Mayweather.
You seriously telling me you wouldn't order a ppv because of the...................commentators?
Good ole Max and his bug eyes.
I can't stand him. He's always emphasizing the negatives of fighters he doesn't like.
I remember he did the pre fight breakdown for Gatti-Mayweather and he shit all over Gatti and couldn't say one positive thing about him. I'm a huge Gatti fan and knew he would get his ass handed to him, but the guy went out of his way to get on two knees and praise PBF.
Here's to you Max
Merchant is borderline useless...it is funny when he says something out of nowhere and everyone else ignore him during 10 seconds of awkward silence, and then just keep talking about whatever they were talking about. I can't really blame him for being senile though.
I haven't seen Kellerman enough to see how biased he is, but I'll take everyone's word that he is. Which is annoying, especially considering all the nuthugging lamply does...if I had a fucking nickel for every time he said BIG RIGHT HAND!!!! when it was a fucking run of the mill cross, I'd be rich.
I'd think I'll go with Merchant, at least he is funny.
That's HBO's way of saying they're going to give the big fights to Kellerman, while Merchant gets the scraps. Until Larry gets tired of it and quits.
Yer that wouldn't suprise me
They should give Merchant another chance, he was on top of his game for Pavlik vs Taylor with some memorable quotes "This must be a good fight Jim, I already have 5 drops of blood on my shirt", "Muscle memory strikes again", lol, etc.
Larry was great that night. I admit he has off nights but his appeal is broad, with the witty quips drawing in newcomers, and the old sayings being near and dear to diehards like us. Larry is irreplaceable IMO.

I thought there were going to alternate?

LOL at Kellerman loving Mayweather more than Mayweather.
Although I didn't know that, I suspected it when I watched Lampley and Steward talking at the Cotto/Mosley fight. Steward took the time to ask Kellerman whether he'd still consider Floyd the best even if he'd duck the winner of the bout. Kellerman said he would.
As much as I want Floyd to win this fight, I don't want to have a nuthugger commentator on the broadcast. Oh, God. Almost makes me wanna' see Hatton KO PBF just to hear a dramatic "NOOOOOOO!!!" from Kellerman as he storms into the ring and security restrains him. The camera switches to Larry Merchant (who's in the crowd) making his way to the commentator's table to take Kellerman's spot.
Lampley: "And now joining us, amidst all the chaos...is Larry Merchant. Larry, good to have you back with us."
Merchant: "Jim.......I think this can be considered.........as one of the most frenzy............chaotic moments........simultaneously in.....and out of the ring."
Steward: "Couldn't have it said better myself. That Kellerman is one crazy a** son of a bit**!"
PRICELESS. I would buy it just to see that live.
LOL that would be quality!!
I pray that Merchants gets this, I don't really like him to call any fight but a Mayweather fight oh dear....He clearly adores Mayweather.
