I would want to see this fight take place for the reasons Deuce_drop stated
it would be a historical fight if it takes place.
plus its two of my favorite fighters, it'd be hard to pick who i wanted to win either way it'd be a historical and great fight.
I'd love to see Calzaghe retire the overrated Borenard Popkins for good.
^^ LOL
An the guy who sed Hopkins would nullify Calzaghe's style and also this 'style' is perfect for Hopkins....well it prompts me to ask you....What 'style' is that?Let me tell you..You cant calculate Calzaghes style..he hasnt a certain style for a boxer to get onto and this is why fighters need several sparring partners to train with before fights with Cally because they can never get onto how he fights and use a certain partner for that because basically he is unpredicable and all his fights are different.Hes just an extremely adaptable boxer as opposed to fighter.
I agree with the other stuff the guy sed tho about how hops would fight and tbh yeh theres better fights/purses out there maybe but id love to see this fight for the reason gavinz1970 has given.
i want to see it but i think with the three egos it's not going to happen, warren, calzaghe, and hopkins.
but like i said before this fight has to be made, seriously, two guys with 40+ title defenses between them, when has a fight ever in the history of boxing taken place with that kind of background behind them, never. it would be a historical fight if it takes place.
hopkins by MD...........hometown or overseas.
and thats why i wouldnt want to see this fight. i would rather watch a more competitive fight rather than watch someone to try not to let it be.
I can't say I wouldn't be doing the same at 'Nard's age. Any idea how hard it is for a 42 year old to train the way he does, let alone get in the ring with elite fighters and fight them for 36 minutes?
His gameplan, while not very appealing to casual fans, is very fun for me to watch. not fun as in edge of your seat entertaining, but fun as in watching him nullify his opponet's every move. I can't help but laugh a lot of times.
That said Hopkins does also have some very entertaining fights, look at the Tarver fight last year.
Even at his age I'll pick Bernard to beat Joe. His style is a perfect foil for Joe's. I know Joe has tons of energy and throws tons of punches but that won't be the story against Hopkins. Hopkins will bait him on the outside, and counter with a straight right hand when Joe throws, then he'll come in with an accidental headbutt, clinch him, hit him behind the head and on the hip, get seperated and repeat.
As I've said before, Hopkins' M.O at this late stage of his career is to fight big name opponets, never put himself at risk, and give his opponets so little to work with that he can dictate the pace until the fight turns into a clusterfuck.
Great post.
I could see Bernard winning it dirty, but I don't think it will happen.

theirs better fights out their visual wise but this fight needs to be made its been in the pipe line for years when hopkins was middleweight champ i believe its 4 or 5 years 2 late for hopkins now due to calzaghe enegry i know hopkins luvs to tell us about his great fitness for his age and give me due his fitness is awesome but it does not change is age. calzaghe over 12 rounds by points, i would love a calzaghe vs Pavlik tht would be a exciting fight
