Vargas has a huge heart, but I have never liked him. His disrespect for the sport and others has always irritated me. Escpecially that "fake mexican " garbage he threw at oscar. He was hurt a few times, he hurt Mayorga a few times but gave a good fight, always gave a good fight whenever he fought. And he accomplished a lot. Glad to see him retire.

I never really liked Vargas, but I respect for some of the battles that he was in and he gave a good performance last night, even though he didn't look in good shape. Im happy he's done though it was obvious last night that he doesn't have anything left and he looked like a 29 yr old going on 50.

Varga wasn't the youngest champ in history. That would be Wilfred Benitez who was 17 when he beat Antonio Cervantes for the title.

Before facing Trinidad, the most exciting fighter to watch, was "El Feroz", Fernando Vargas. That boy always came to fight, no question about that. although his career was some what short, Vargas will be inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame. Not as an all time great, but as the YOUNGEST boxer to ever win and hold a major championship. Mike Tyson was the youngest Heavy Weight in History, at age 20, but Vargas was 2 or 3 months younger than Tyson when he won the 154 title, also at age 20, making Vargas the youngest in History.

The guy came down from 260, and he made the weight. Getting down from 260 shows me he worked hard enough. He's just shot, but he gave it his all.

Vargas is the only fighter that I have ever had no respect at all for. I really despise the guy. He acts like a bitch, disrespects the sport, cheats his fans, and comes into fights out of shape. No respect at all. He doesn't even deserve to be called a fighter. Fuck, even calling him a fat pig is being generous. The only time I had an ounce of sympathy for the guy was when he got low blowed by Tito Trinidad. That was mildly fucked up, and I felt for the guy, then I realized what a little bitch he is. He makes Floyd Mayweather look mature. That is quite a feat since Floyd is constantly acting like an 8 yearold. That's a little over the top, the guy always fights with heart and gives it his all once he's in the ring. He had some moments in the fight tonight, he's got guts. In saying that I'm not a Vargas fan, but calling the guy a bitch is just not on.

I like Vargas, it's sad to see him fall out like that but hey at least he still wants to be involved in Boxing, he ain't fully walking away he just not gonna be fighting, I have respected him ever since he stood up to Trinidad and even KD Tito, I thought he was DONE that 1st round, I think that fight changed his career, he was much more weary to shots and never showed that courage to such hard shots again, Trinidad does that to guys, I respect Vargas though for giving his heart out and even though he came up short a lot he always brought that Mexican bravado and repped it right, Mexicans are tough even when losing, Vargas is living proof of that.. 100

Props to Vargas for a good career. Although his prime was short lived, he was a good fighter.

Ya know, even though he had become somewhat of a disgrace and i wanted him to lose, i kind of felt bad when was down on the mat in the first. I always liked he had pride and thats what drew him to me but i think i lost it for him when he got punked by Oscar and followed it up by juicing. Still, he had a good career and isnt even thirty yet. If his team wouldve waited a couple years before sacraficing him to Tito and Oscar, who knows what he couldve been.
