Yes, No?
Wins Verse Oleg Maskaev, Hasim Rahman. First Round KO's of Michael Moorer & John Ruiz. War w/ Ike Ibeabuchi. And he's never been KTFO. 49 (42 KO) - 3 Record
Not even close. His win over Rahman was bullshit. He was getting whipped and then punched him after the bell. His draw with Rahman was a smaller gift. He beat Maskaev, well so did Lance Whitaker, so what. He did give us an absolute highlight KO of Ruiz that will be played over and over on boxing threads for eternity. I thank him for that, and he did have an impressive win over Micheal Moorer. However, his best fight, he lost (Ibeabuchi) and was thoroughly dominated by Lewis. A good fighter yes, a great, no.
when was the last time someone who was 5ft 9 and 220lbs won the heavyweight title?
He's a good fighter but he is too short to win any titles. Lewis showed that all you need to do is avoid his bombs and jab the shit out of him and he can`t do anything.
Not a hall of famer insofar as his achievements are concerned, but in terms of his power, chin and devastating wars and knockouts, he does deserve some sort of recognition. I believe he was voted one of the top 50 punchers of all time.
If you could consider Shavers a hall of famer I don't see why Tua couldn't be in with a shout.
Exciting, good fighter, really good power, but you need a World Title to go along with that.
The frustrating thing is, that he could win a world title right now if he would ever step up his competition and get serious with his conditioning...:dunno:
At this point is his career, he's not a HOF. He's shown on certain nights that he has the power, skill, chin, and the heart of champion but he's just too inconsistent between his big wins to make a viable argument for the HOF. Plus, as was stated earlier, he's not world champion...
