We know the Middleweight division has been blessed with some of the most gifted fighters the sport has ever produced. Hagler, Robinson, Jones et al. But which division is in the healthier state in today's climate. The Super-middleweight division has often been derided as being devoid af any real talent and often though of as a wasteland for sub-par European fighters who couldn't make their mark at 160. Sven Ottke did the division no favors.
Which division possess the better fighters today? Is Kelly Pavlik the best of a bad bunch, Is Calzaghe one of many top super-middleweights who out shine their junior counterparts? Which reigns supreme?
Supermiddleweight is a way deeper division than Middleweight. Especially now that it looks like Joe may be looking North.. more chances for the other guys.
There is some good prospects in the MW division like Peter Quillin, I think he's a SMW now. (You can check out his fights on youtube) Than there is one prospect that beat Andy Lee in the amateurs, forgot his name.
It's not even close imo. 168 is loaded with talent. I count Taylor as a Super Middle now too.
If he hasn't had a fight at 168 why would consider him one?
