Well, Duk Koo Kim most likely died as a result of dehydrating himself prior to the Mancini fight as dehydrated fighters are highly prone to brain injuries. This is the real danger of weight draining.
And G-Man almost died because he came into the Benn fight already brain damaged by most accounts.
good post man.. very very true.. its their profession.. they should stay in shape year rounds like bhop, mayweather, malinaggi, ect..
in all honesty, if these guys did that, they wouldnt sustain so many problems in the ring, swelling, lack of strength late in the fight is all due to fluctuating your weight. anyone who walks around at 180 something and then gets down to 140/147 is going to have the swell job of a lifetime if they take too many to the face.
gatti killed himself to get to 140 for the mayweather fight..
the same result would have occured but he killed himself to get down to that wieght..i'm sure he did, but the thing that gets me about these fighters is that they don't stay in great shape all year around like a mayweather or a hopkins who are gym rats, yet, of course they won't admit they are weight drained because they are fighters but they talk the shit they talk but don't really prepare their bodies well, like what hatton did against collazo, but he still won, or what corralles did with mayweather, it's no excuse. prepare your bodies in advance, change your workout regiment, don't make albums like roy jones and then come back thinking your skills will get the job done even if your body is drained from weight issues. don't go out and party hard like a gatti, who would not have beaten mayweather at any weight anyway, but would have put up a better fight seeing how when he was focused, he came into his fights in great shape and not weight drained.
all these fighters, no matter who they are know that this sport is no joke, and they know they have to be in shape at all time. no excuses, which is why i admire hopkin's an dmayweather's training regiment and drive, because they talk shit but stay in shape and train like madmen to keep in shape, which is a huge reason why they're at where they are at today. they know what it takes.
any one of cottos fights at 140.
taylor has a tough time gettin to middle
Cotto vs Torres. Even though he won I think the weight drain is what made the fight so close and for Cotto not to take some of those punches too well.
Rocky Juarez vs. Zahir Raheem, Raheem had to kill himself to make the featherweight limit, A weight he had not made for 2+ years. He was dead tierd half way through the rounds and was telling his corner that he could't continue, that he cut to much weight. His trainer calmed him down and had him continue.
i heard my friend tell me he once saw a fight where the guy weighed much over the limit. apparently in 1 hour he lost like 10 lbs and made it. so i was like cool so did he win then? but he got ktfo in the 2nd round because he was too tired. my friend aint a big fan so didnt give em a name but i laughed at that. lol
