I just don't see how comming in at fight night well over the weight class is fair. I mean floyd fought Oscar at 154lb, while comming in at 148 at fight night, while guzman fights soto at 130lb (24lb lower class) comming in at the same weight floyd was.
In a sport that has weight classes, weight cutting is always going to happen. Always.
Even if they had same day weigh ins, the same fighters would probebly cut weight anyway for the size advantage. So instead of two fresh guys fighting, youd have two dehydrated guys. not as good a fight.
Dont tell me its unfair, there are millions of weight classes to choose from nowadays, just go to whichever one you preform best in. besides, with day after weigh ins, we actually get to see who is the bigger and smaller guy in fights, and we can make judgements with those numbers.
one more thing...it would get in the way of big fights. if everyone fought at their honest walking around weight, then you wouldnt see fighters move up in weight much. when fighters from different weight classes clash, its a big thing. same day weigh ins would mess that up a bit.
You bring up good points, but there should be some kind of regulation. 130lb champ fighting at 148 is too extreme.

good post.....
But wouldn't it be better to watch 2 fighters who are actually in the same weight division on the night of the fight?
it would be better but its not safe, boxing is not a fucking gladiator that the fighters is dying for your amusement. its a sport and in sport its always safety first.

The boxer shouldn't be shedding all that weight.
Some guys shed 30-40lbs. just to fight little guys.
Punks like Shitman specialize in that.
how much is the weight difference between weigh-in and fight night for hattons fights?
its a safety precaution, you dont want to see a boxer died in the ring because of dehydration would you?

Well they probably won't fight at lower weight classes, because they won't have any energy with dehydration.
And no I wouldn't want any fighter getting hurt, but outweighing you opponent by 13lb (which is about 10% at 130lb limit) is not fair to the opponent.
