People forget Trinidad was retired already when he came back and lost to Winky, and although Trinidad got outboxed 12 rnds, I felt Winky gave me one of the most boring fights I've ever seen. You're making excues. Hopkins was out of his prime too. Trinidad was out of his prime too. Mosley at 154? What the fuck was he doing there? Taylor didn't he just get ko'd by Pavlike? Vargas win over Quartey is more impressive then Winkys win over Quartey. Does Vargas get any credit for the fighters he lost to? Cause after all, he did give every one a tough fight. He got knocked out by three of them in very competitive fights, spanked Quartey, and won a controversial decision over the last one. I mean, Wrights ledger against big names is much better

Winky made a name off of Trinidad. You can say Mosley, but Winkys stock really took off when he fought Trinidad. Vargas has always been a fighter on the rise taken on tough opponets and show a kill or get killed attitude in the ring, even if it ment losing by ko. But it did get him a ton of boxing fans to pay to see him fight. Winky waits for the big names to fight cause even if he fought a top ten fighter he would have a hard time getting fans to see him fight. Or because his rivals thought he was an uncorfortable and he has to wait for his chances. Some guys preferred that mentality altought the loses and...other don´t, it´s up to everyone

Not really. Anyone who truly apperciates boxing would choose Winky by a mile. Vargas is entertaining, but you don't go at the end of the day and say "Wow that guy had a ton of skill" like you would Wright. Vargas had a ton of skill too, lets not forget this. When years pass by and new fans come in and ask about Winky sure they'll probably hear, "he was a great defensive fighter." But when they watch him fight, like his fights against say Quartey, Taylor, Hopkins, there going to say "Winky got hit a lot for a defensive fighter." And that is being honest. Anybody who thinks Winky is some defensive wizard, doesn't know what he is talking about.

He has, trust me... Hyperion is the biggest Winky Wright fan on this board I think, even though he likes Morales more... he is very passionate about the guys he likes. He was one of the first to explain to me what the Harry Simon fight looked like. I think he called Julie Lederman an ugly cunt too. For me was an incredible fight to watch, and Winky had the skill to won that one...but i think he wasn´t ready for that , Vasquez was a real hard puncher with definitely 1 punch ko power, and at that point,Winky wasn´t the defenssive fighter he is nowadays and, also, he was a lot more agressive, and then, more self-discovered Great fight Did HBO or another American network cover that fight?
