I have seen many comparisons made btween the two, and i find them all to be completely inacurate-heres why.
leonard had it all. power, speed, defense, agility, stamina, chin, heart-the whole package.
Not only could he box and move but when he found himself outfoxed he could get down and dirty as he did many times in his career.
He fought in one of the best era's ever and still managed to shine above other greats.
He went from welter to light heavey winning titels and beat some legends along the way.
He cameback after a long layoff to defeat argueably the best middleweight champ in the history of the sport.
he is a living legend.
compare all this to a guy who has yet to face any great much less prime p4p guy since leaving lightweight 5 years ago. a guy who is without question a defensive genius, but other than that what is he?
Are there those among you that would literally rate a guy with no noteable wins on his resume since leaving lightweight the kind of accolades that Leonard earned by right?
opinions!
Mayweather didn't do shit at 140. He skipped thru, didn't fight Tszyu, and claimed he was the greatest that ever lived. Disgusting business move that was.
Exactly. Why they deny that is beyond me. It's like clinton denying he banged a chick that was blowing him in the OO.
Yeah, i never banged her, i just ran a cigar up her ass!
You see, this is the problem in a nutshell. he went on to become alot more famous at 140?
By beating Gatti, Ndou, brusseles, and corely? How did he miss the two best at 140-Hatton and Tzsyu?
He then went to 147 and beat the EX-LEGITIMATE CHAMP. that says it all, and judah wasn't anything if not un legitimate!
Then he beat a HOF. yes, a HOF that hadn't been HOF quality since leaving the welterweight division how many years before?
Floyd fans lack common sense. They are herd mentality, whack jobs looking for somone to worship!

After Castillo II? He beat Castillo pretty good in the rematch, which is impressive considering he almost lost the 1st. Then he went on and became a lot more famous at 140, and went to 147 to beat the ex legimate champ and legimate champ. Then he beat a HOF.
Yep, wasted years for sure .

hey, I have a question yall.
http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine%27s_Annual_Ratings:_Junior_Lightweight--2000s
RING magazine had Floyd #2 and Corrales #1 at 130 at the end of 2000. Corrales and Floyd fought in 2001. how come Floyd became champion of the division, I thought that was their policy?
I think its because Floyd had just fought Augustus at 135lbs, so maybe his name got taken off the 130lb lists during that time.
but does anyone know?

I said "after Castillo II." And, Floyd did nothing spectacular at 140....just dodged Tszyu......the true Jr. WW champ. (IMO-obligatory)
I give Floyd credit for fighting Castillo. In fact, IMO that's where the problems started. Castillo won that first fight fair and square. Floyd had to come back for the second and he did well on his bicycle.
LIAR!! I had Calzaghe over Kessler gramps and there have been plenty of threads that show I had it that way. Mayweather over Hatton I told you to put all your points on and you bitched out like a elementary school kid. Oh wise and old grandpa Coyote why is your foolish banter so lackluster. Take your medication before you go to bed old man, before you get all riled up.
lol........not riled up by you at all.......as a matter of fact if anybody seems to be "riled", it's you! Oh...I'm glad you finally got one right (Calz). Sorry about the Cotto fight though. lol
Agreed on 130. He is HOF quality there, no question. But, after that, especially after Castillo II, it's been all business. One big cynical letdown after another.

Screw off college boy......... I called Pavlik to KO Taylor. You said I lacked "boxing knowledge". I called Calzaghe over Kessler. You disagreed. I called Cotto over Mosely. You in all your boxing wisdom disagreed.
Now who is wrong loudmouth? Shut up and learn something while you're poring over your school books.

And BTW you have been calling alot of fights dead on lately-grats!
Yea your info seems to be wrong more times than not.

First, Wikipedia is not a credible source of anything- not that it pertains to what you stated but in general.
Second- Mayweather's chances at a HOF ballad should be for his efforts at 130-135.
Nothing he has done since warrants merrit!

The ring championship was reinstalled in 2002, when mayweather fought jose luis castillo, he was also fighting for the linear championship,

My question to you, at 130 when mayweather was in it and was being ranked number 1 and beating the shit out of everyone in the division, who was better? honestly, who was better? and dont pull the answer out of youre ass, mayweather was seen at that weight to be the number one fighter in that divosion after he beat corralles who was considered the top dog in the division until he faced mayweather at 130. After he fought hernandez and jesus chavez, he basically solidified his dominance in that division.

Genaro Hernandez and Jose Luis Castillo were never champions. Jose Luis Castillo won (barely) his alphabet belt from Stevie Johnson. Genero Hernandez won the vacant WBA belt, vacated it and then won the WBC belt from an old Azumah Nelson. Neither Hernandez nor Castillo unified the titles or defeated the previous linear champions (Brian Mitchell and Pernell Whitaker). Stevie Johnson was never a champion at lightweight and Azumah Nelson was, like Johnson, merely an alphabet titlist. Stevie Johnosn won his alphabet belt from Jean Baptiste Mendy and Mendy won that vacant WBC belt in a bout with Lamar Murphy.

I think i have said everything i need to in this thread.
For topics like this, I wish Dios was still here. It would make it a lot more interesting.
Cheers to that one budd, he will have to go on overtime when he returns.
My mistake. Tszyu's pro career was always at 140. I thought I remembered him holding a LW belt at some point, but he was LW at his first Olympics.
Yea your info seems to be wrong more times than not.
I dont recall Kostya ever being a champ at 135lbs, who did he beat to get the title? or maybe it was one of these cheap ass belts like...NABA or whatever the hell it is. WBC international, those kind.
its not really fair to throw Floyd against Leonard's opponents, seeing as he cant make himself higher than 150lbs even if he tries while Leonard was a pretty big Welterweight. so I dunno what yall are getting at.
and regardless of criticism about his opponents, what Floyd has been doing is extremely rare. hes been undisputed champ at 130, 135, is fighting the 140 guy soon, 147, and fought arguably the best at 154, although nobody really knows who the hell the champ is at that weight anyway...and this is a guy that cant make himself weigh more than 149lbs in a sport where pretty much everyone cuts a ton of weight.
I dont put him at the same level of Leonard, but what Floyd has been doing hasnt been done much throughout boxing history. and the only people that have...are ATGs. but we'll just have to wait and see when his career is over.

thats not his point, leonard was hittable, im sure you have seen the fights. leonard would take some to get some.
Yeah, Floyd is just a master defensively.
Also I think it's time to start comparing him to Whitaker in terms of being the best defensive fighter of all time.........we'll see. If he totally shuts Hatton out without taking any noticeable punishment I think people should keep that in mind.

Funny how that gets overlooked on the march to Mayweathers greatness!
One of many facts his fans seem to forget whenever Mayweathers legacy is challenged.
Fraud is a horrible crime!
...what the fuck, are you guys on crack? he beat every fighter there was to beat at 135 and 130, the exceptions being freitas and casamayor.
