Most of the reaction to a punch to the head for example is is how violently the head is moved back.....
Smaller guy has less power..though may more speed....but once the connection is made you need to follow through with the rest of your body to keep the power going throught he arm/glove..hence speed of the glove throught the target (head) to get a result..
Hence fast punch no power...means a slap..(as no following power) Calzaghe for example...............(joke)
Also the bigger the neck / shoulder muscles the more they support the head to prevent a violent movement....
So a neck the size of my upper leg..eg Tyson , will take a hell of a punch to have an effect..
A bigger guy can take a smaller guy's best shot better than a smaller guy in general. A greater mass means that the damage is absorbed easier, and also neck strength plays a part, as a big part of KOs is movement of the brain within the skull. If your head doesn;t move then you don't get KOd
Brain hits the back of the skull which moves the fluid inside your brain, it's all some badass stuff if you ask me.
Yeah but that goes back to the mass in motion.
Which delivers more force? An 18 Wheeler moving 20 MPH or a golf ball potentially breaking the sound barrier?
Cmon man, we're comparing fighters that way twice at most, not millions and millions. But I can say I'd rather get hit by an 18 wheeler going one mile an hour than a 44 magnum bullet.

By a general rule, it's simply more mass in motion.
What would you rather get hit by? A 2x4 or a Tree Trunk? What would you rather punch? A 2x4 or a Tree Trunk? What would you rather get bumped into by? A 2x4 or a Tree Trunk?
I am guessing you have just finished going on a camping trip.
Perhaps, but energy is mass times the square of the velocity
The mass/velocity equation doesn't really apply to boxing. If it did you would see knockouts with the jab all the time. Leverage and force are important, and the weight behind the punch means that it is more likely to transfer its force in the direction of travel than back along the boxer's arm. So while a big guy with weight behind him might deliver the force to the target, a smaller man may simply bounce off.
Arm punches do virtually no damage but are frequently moving at a higher velocity to a proper shoulder-rotation punch.
Perhaps, but energy is mass times the square of the velocity. So, someone with half the mass, but with twice the velocity, hits with twice the energy, though the same amount of momentum. That being said, I think bigger people can take a harder punch, but no doubt Kelly Pavlik can knock out a Tommy Morrison.

Kinetic linking is enhanced with weight. The heavier you are the more powerful your kinetic linking can be, in most cases. I would say that a HW probably could be hurt by someone in the smaller weight classes just because kinetic linking makes punches that much more powerful.
