This was def in my mind a highly anticipated bout, and I would have never guessed it to go 12. This to me is why its so hard to be a hardcore boxing fan. You wait and wait months and months of anticipation for a huge fight. The week of and the day of nervous as hell and cannot wait. Then when the fight unfolds it sucks.
Don't get me wrong I think the first few rounds the fight was living up. But I was hugely disappoint in Mosley's performance. Who is in my Top 5 favorite fighters of all time. This is why Mayweather is still way ahead of the competition. Mosley was getting stupidly tagged by Cotto; Cotto basically hit Mosley whenever he wanted to. Finally Cotto showed some give some vulnerablitly and Mosley did even worse. He would walk Cotto down and not even throw punches; if Mosly would have went for broke at about the 9th round he couldve stopped Cotto.
The matchup I was hoping for was PBF and Mosly in 08 now I'm glad that this fight will not happen. B/c Mosley would've gotten embarrassed. I honestly think both Cotto and Mosly under performed in this fight. Mosley even looked scared or shook of Cotto in the beginning. Even Jack in the corner kept telling Shane to relax.
The two biggest fights of the year for me De Le Hoya-Mayweather and Cotto-Mosley were easily the most disappointing and frustrating fights of the year!
I do though have to commend Mosley for neutralizing Cotto's body attack and even slowing Cotto up by going to his body. And commend Cotto for proving that it was a myth that he had a weak chin.
Other than these positives I feel like I waisted 50 bucks
I wasn't disappointed. I mean sure, we always want a KO ending of some sort because it adds to the drama and caps off the event. But in the end, we got some really nice brutal exchanges, and what I think was the official passing of the torch so they say. Although I don't see how Cotto at all resembles Mosley. But anyways, I'm not disappointed and thought it was a great fight. Sure, Cotto could have done without his stupid bicycle act in the last few rounds, but whatever. I guess this nearly marks the year end for me because Mayweather-Hatton does absolutely nothing for me. 2 boring ass fighters that are gonna put the crowd to sleep.
I don't get it guys I am depressed about this fight. It was so disappointing that it makes me not even look forward to the mayweather-Hatton fight.
Mosley fought stupid and scared. Looked only for one hit wonders and tired out worse than DLH. HE showed no balls to hurt or beat Cotto. And Cotto started RUNNING the last 4 rounds. How the hell isnt this fight disappointing? Ive seen sparring sessions more exciting. Its like Cotto and Mosley were best friend forced to fight each other or something
I got your back homie and I totally agree. I give Cotto all the credit in the world but that fight wasnt nearly as great as people are making it out to be. It didnt live up to the hype to me because Mosley didnt carry his weight. He looked uptight early like some rookie in his 1st big fight. Then he seemed strange during the fight, like he had no reflexes. Cotto hit him with everything and Shane didnt even try to make him miss or block anything. He looked very one demensional and thats why Ive always said Floyd would kill him. He has no D and never makes any adjustments during the fight.
As for Cotto I think he did his job for 8 rounds and fought like a beast. I thought he faded alot late but I wont hold it against him since he was up against a tough guy. I always felt that it was going 12 rounds even before the fight so it wasnt a shock to me but it wasnt as good as I thought it would be because Mosley seemed out of it to me, like he was drugged or something. I think he just got pretty old overnight but most people dont see it that way so I wont try to convice them. It doesnt bother me for upcoming fights though. I definatly wouldve loved to see Shane vs Floyd but Cotto vs Floyd is equally as good since Cotto is undefeated and has all the hype right now. Floyd definatly wouldnt have got as much credit for a Mosley win then a Cotto win
I was VERY dissapointed. I considered this a shitty-as-fuck fight. From the onset it was obvious how much Shane had aged. Even I was surprised at this, he was breathing WAY hard between rounds and during the fight, and his punches had no pop. In the early-middle rounds, he looked so tired that I thought he wouldn't go the distance. He went the distance in part because of his huge heart, but also because of Cotto's inability to do anything big. He didn't walk him down, he didn't progressively cause damage or break him down like he always does, and was getting hit with punches that should not have landed, much less stunned him. Huge letdown - Mosley showed he is old as fuck and Cotto showed he is not that talented.
I feel you dude ssometimes I wonder what fight some people were watching. Even Lampley at th ebeginning of the telecast listed big exciting fight sof the year and pointed out that on paper everyone wouldve said Cotto-Mosley will be the most exciting. I couldve went without watching this fight. I don't like the Mosley is old talk, but I mean the guy was calling out Mayweather but comes out and fights Cotto like a b*tch.
Admit it guys Mayweather wouldve easilly taken out Cotto and Mosley the way they fought last night. And I'm not even a Mayweather fan. I was desperately pulling for Mosley in this one.
i was very disappointed
but i convinced my self that it was because ive been spoiled with all of the last fights
tuesday being codrington-bika, thursday i went to a fight night in san jose with 6 fights and 6 KO's Ricardo Cortes being on the main even KOing his guy in 2.
Yes you are the only person.
i was definetly dissapointed but it was still a very good fight. but the undercard SUCKED badly.
2 first round KO blowouts and a boring robbery = waste of money.
But it was a very good card on paper, so i still give Golden Boy and Top Rank lots of props on the card.
They did the same thing for Pacquiao-Barrera and we got two GREAT fights outta that.
And they did it for Cotto-Judah, which was PPV card of the year as far as im conscerned.

For obvious reasons I enjoyed the fight, but I thought we got 11 rounds of great action last night as well.
The first half of the fight contained some savage combat. Those guys were hitting each other with punches that would have put lesser fighters on their asses. Both of those motherfuckers came to fight, sans round 12.
As far as wanting a knockout goes...I can see the disappointment, but it really shows how tough both of those fuckers are. Mosley hasn't had a significant knockout win at this weight in a long time and Cotto is a determined bastard. Cotto doesn't have that devastating one punch power stuff and we know Mosley is made of granite.
correct!!! i believe the only round that it sucked was the 12 yeah maybe it wasn't what we were expecting but hey u got to love surprises.
