Just watched the fight without sound and if you take the Puerto Rican fans and the over-zealous HBO commentary group out of the equation, Mosley is the clear winner of the fight. He won 7 out of the 12 rounds cleanly and maybe more. Cotto's vaunted 'power' never once had Mosley in trouble, but contrary to what many thought, Mosley had Cotto backing up for at least the last 4 rounds. Mosley kept touching him with something all night, especially flicking that jab in Cotto's face while keeping him at distance and strafing him with the harder shots. Mosley did take more punishment than he's ever taken before, but he deserved to be the victor of that fight, giving a great performance at 36 years old. Just watch the fight without sound, and take special consideration at the last four rounds.....Mosley UD or a Draw at worst.
I'm talking about the crowd mostly man. Miguel would twitch his shoulder to throw a punch and the crowd would erupt even if Cotto just hit air. I don't care how professional a judge at ringside may be, the crowd sways judges. The fight last night was definitely 7 rounds to 5 for Shane Mosley, however the judges were bamboozeled by the ovation of the crowd. It's called inadvertent home-cooking and it was naturally going to happen in a building filled to the brim with Puerto Ricans cheering on their man. Sugar Shane won that fight, it was close but Shane pulled it off.
I wasn't bamboozled by anything and I had it 7-5 Cotto. No question about it. Round 11 was a masterpiece for Cotto.
i was at the fight. whenever cotto threw a punch, the crowd went crazy, even if he didnt make any contact
I thought the crowd was pretty dull throughout the fight. It actually kind of made me mad because I was excited at something and the crowd didn't say a thing.

Its funny to hear this guys say with the "sound off" because the announcers were definitely pro Mosley except for Steward who was the only one commenting on Cotto.

Clearly your biased for Mosley cause even in the rounds 9-12 Cotto was setting traps and knocking Shane around. Everyone talking about turning down the volume takes away from Shane because the HBO commentary was all for Shane in those last rounds...you guys are ridiculous...face it boys Shane is a great fighter but it was Cotto's night and even Shane admitted it. If he can live with it you guys should too!
I didnt see the fight, but the PR fans are much like the Mexican ones. Anytime their fighter even throws a power punch they start screaming.
agreed........
Most of the neutral people had Cotto winning.
No way. Look at the "Who won the fight" poll.
Almost all of the votes for Cotto are known nuthuggers.

It was only close because cotto deliberately decided to go on the back foot rnds 8-10, to conserve energy and Mosley's power was still dangerous, he fought a very smart fight and knew he had rounds in the bag, mosley did well in the later part of the fight but you could see he was tired, i dont think cotto dug as deep as he could of and think he clearly won a close but ud.
I hope everyone gets it about cotto now, he had a lot of doubters before the fight, but he beat a good mosley who was on decent form. I had a feeling his jab would make the difference, left handed orthodox fighters can be dangerous combination punchers, eg, cotto, de la hoya, barrera.
I think your going way too far by saying it was a clear win.. thats a close fight man..
I think you could clearly pick out the rounds that Cotto won and the rounds that Mosley won.
It was a close fight, but Cotto had better stuff last night.
Every single poster who posted in this thread was a Mosley fan. As it stands now each Mosley fan thought Mosley won, and each Cotto fan thought Cotto won. I expect this to continue...

I wanted Shane to win but thought it was clear Cotto won.
Piss off man thats crazy! :nonono: Cotto won clearly and fairly without question i dont see how there can be a case for Shane to win
