Dont watch the DLH fight.
He was way past it and blown up against Gatti, but he got beat down in that one too.
Sadly those are 2 of 3 fights Ive seen of him.
Ruelas was a cool fighter I seen his first lost at Tuseday night replay. He had some ring thing in his eras and didnt notice the ref counting.
Another memobriabl fight was with Gatti.
Nelson was a good boxer and Leija was good brawler usally a boxer beats the brawler
The funny thing is he's my trainer yet I havnt seen none of those fights.haha

Leija caught Nelson on the way out, but Nelson still had enough in him to give him a nice whipping in the second fight. I still think he won the first fight, but the third and fourth were just cases of Nelson having very little left. I think Nelson should've retired after the Genaro Hernandez fight.
Silly question. Of course he wasn't, he bested a past-it Azumah. Furthermore, Azumah actually RETIRED after another loss to Gabriel Ruelas. Most thought he was finished, especially at the age. The only reason why someone would even ask this question is because he un-retired a year later and stopped Leija. But even then, you could see he wasn't the same fighter. Overall...it's NO CONTEST. Nelson is one of the most underrated fighters of the past 20 years.
Ruelas never "officially" beat Nelson.

Man, make the most of it Vers. Don't allow yourself to mess up this oppertunity. At 23 you're still young. Show up to the gym everyday or he may not pay attention to you as he would have if you show up every day. And take the amatures serious. At the higher level there are some skilled and powerfull amatures. Glad to here he's still involved in boxing and that he's a good trainer. Im sure he knows a lot of tricks of boxing, he fought the "Professer" so he almost learned something from those fights. Tell him i say hi, and that i think he got robbed against Lazcano.
Will do...........
Well ppl were telling me to go to him so he can train me.So thats why I did it.He knows alot of ppl so that was another reason. As I went to the gym I saw that he knows alot of shit, and alot of tricks. The thing is,all he teaches and shows me is more for the pro ranks, thats why Im confused as fuck when it comes to amateurs. When I started going to the gym he thought I was a pro and was trying to get me some fights, which was nice.haha.
Im 23 right now. I started watching pro because I didnt really want to start amateur boxing because I thought I was too old.I started at 19. He turned pro at 22,so he said I have time. He said I have alot of potential because I have knockout power in both hands with any punch(maybe hard to believe, but a fellow member of bs actually called the gym and talked to them and he told them himself) and at a lower weight.Right now he's building me up.He thinks I should do Golden Gloves first,so thats what Im going to do. He said he might start some boxing shows if I turn pro and such.
After my fight he said I adapted to the other guys style of fighting(the amateur way)Something he knows I dont do.He knows I have more of a pro style then anything and I could probably take out alot of guys with my power, but it takes time. We've already talked about when I turn pro and how many fights I want in the first year.I was thinking of taking the Tyson approach and getting alot.Thats still on the table though.
In all he's a real good trainer, when Im not there for a day or so he asks me where Ive been.haha. I can tell he see's alot in me,from the way I work,my defense and me hurting sparring partners with multiple punches. So it seems as if its going to be a cool relationship. He's busy at times, but he's practically at the gym everyday. I think he's working Golden Johnson's corner on saturday.I didnt ask because I was in a rush to get out.I know he's going though.

Man, you are getting a golden oppertunity here Vers. Seriously.
Ok without the bullshit, i dont' know how good of a trainer Leija is but going from the time you've been with him and what you'be shown us. You could be a good amature and better pro. One great thing that i mean don't blow this golden oppurtunity is train your ass off, practice alot and listen to what Leija tells you.
How old are you?
Leija was a World Champion, not just anybody beat Nelson even an old Nelson. Shit he fought a whos, who of fighters. from Nelson, Ruelas, Delahoya, Mosley, Lazcano, I.Robinson, Ward, Gatti, and Tszyu as you can see its a long list, and he fared well against most all of them - except Delahoya.
One thing you in him have in commen is that you both started late. He picked up boxing i think around 19 years old. And he has connections that, im sure of. So he can get you in if he thinks you got what it takes that's why i say train and listen to him.
How come you ain't ever taken a picture with him? Is he still going to run for Mayor, i recall him saying somthing similar.

I know stuff about Leija.haha I just never saw those fights. There is a poster with a tale of the tape of them both though.Ive been with him since March. He understood my Amateur fighting problems.haha. Ive only really seen Leija fight Bojando(or how ever you spell it) and Gatti,oh and DLH.

No, way. How long has he been training you for? You don't know anything about him? Have you seen him fight? What fights of his have you seen?
Vers, answer this question ^^

hes been training you from the beginning?

Are these fights worth seeing, i loved Nelson.
Yes. They are. I got i think there 3rd maybe 4th fight i may have two of there fights. The one i dont' have is the 1st one, but i remember how it went down seeing it live on tv. But i would love to see the 1st fight again. You should check out the Hernandez fight too. Nelson lost but it was a good fight. Nelson got dirty against Hernandez.
Like I said, Leija couldn't hold Nelson's jockstrap and to dispute this shows that you simply know nothing about boxing.
Yeah, as if Nelson was so on the slide when Leija go to him that he keep fighting and wining the title back. Just give it up Nelson wasn't invinacle. Leija was to Nelson what, Ken Norten was to Muhammed Ali.
